Default Window AC Installation

Hey,
Just picked up a window ac unit and a question on the installation. I noticed the frame that holds in the screen creates a lip, so I don't have a nice flat surface to mount the AC support bracket.

First thought was to trim that along the bottom. The screen will still have 3 sides of support holding it in.
Unless I'm thinking this all wrong.
It's a horizontal sliding window, and this is the unit I bought.

Are you trying to figure out how to mount the unit on the window and maintain a seal on the bottom while also keeping the unit from teetering on that lip of metal?

If I were in that situation and needed to Macguyver something, I'd consider using some sort of flat syrofoam and/or packing foam to try and create a flat surface against the non flat window frame by allowing it to compress around the frame. I'm sure the box the AC unit came in should have something you could put on the window sill then use the weight of the AC unit to pseudo mold a flat surface seal that can easily be removed later?
