What age did you move out of your parents house/leave home?
Heyy everyone I recently graduated university last year and just turned turned 23 years old a couple weeks ago. Now that I have a stable job im moving out Nov 1!. Pretty big change for me. Anyways just curious to know when some of CP moved out of there parents' house. What age were you when you moved out? Any advice?

24, I already had a good job and milked it for too long. When I bought a new truck that was the sign to my parents that I was ready.

21 for me, but I moved back for a year at 26 just before I bought my place.

My parents moved away from Calgary when I graduated high school. I was already going to the U of C so they set me up in an apartment and left me behind at the ripe age of 17. It wasn't pretty on my grades for the first couple years. Lots of fun though.

A month after I turned 18. Couldn't wait to get the F outta there.
Why do people wait so long to move out? I always wanted a place of my own to come and go as I pleased with no one to answer to.

I moved out at 23 but only because I went traveling. After I got home, I stayed for a month but my folks had already lined up a place for me to purchase so that was just a month.

17, got booted to the curb for having a party that ended up causing $30,000 damage to my folks place. I invited 6 buddies over to just hang out. Word spread and over 100 people showed up. Learned a lot of lessons having to fend for myself that young. After a month my folks asked me to come back, but I was too stubborn, and was already lovin my 400 sq ft bachelor pad/studio apt.

Same for me, I moved out at 18 and was the best thing I could have done. I also had to go to University though. To OP, I would think at your age (which I am now) it's about time, especially since you have a job. The freedom and responsibility that you'll get is worth it.

16, I didn't get along with my father. I was too cool for school and I was working. I lived in a small town so there was plenty of cheap places to rent. I ended up renting from my father... who was a slumlord.

The day after I turned 18 moved out to Lake Louise and lived the life of a snowboard bum. I had to move back in at 20 while I went to university, though.

Got thrown out on my butt when I was 16, came back to finish high school, signed up with the Military two weeks before I graduated, and was on a bus the day after basically.
If I was a parent, having my kids living with me until the mid 20's would be a little annoying.

I bought my first condo at 19 pre build and moved out at 20. Mom has begged me to move back ever since!

Anybody else get luggage for their 18th birthday?
Note: I wasn't actually kicked out until 21.

I'm really exited (just not at the thought of paying $1000 for rent) but also the thought of coming home to an empty apartment without anyone to say hello to also kinda irks me. How did you guys deal with the whole "being alone" feeling

I went to University out of province when I was 17. After I graduated, I moved back with my parents for about 8 months while I found my bearings. I moved out when I was 22.

22. I moved away for my first job.
At 26, I was laid-off and went back to school. So, I moved back in with my parents for 6 months until I had a new job and a steady paycheque again.

Pfft, my dad practically threw my stuff in a garbage bag while humming born free.
If he could have made me a hobo hankerchief on a stick as a joke he would have.

I've seen so many kids do this. How the hell is anyone able to buy real estate at 18-19? Rich parents?
