Default Ken Hitchcock Announces Retirement

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...hl-head-coach/

Quote:
After 22 seasons as an NHL head coach, and another three as an assistant, Ken Hitchcock has announced his retirement from coaching in the NHL.

He will move into a consultant role with the Dallas Stars.

Dallas most likely will be looking directly at AV. Perhaps this is the first domino to fall?

Makes sense, he was just wrong for them.

I bet Dallas doesn't need months to decide to make a move.

Maybe AV would prefer somewhere else lol. Be patient,I hope the Flames fire GG as well but I also like taking time to make the correct decisions.

Well yeah the decision has already kinda been made for them.

Luckily for them AV is just sitting there ready to be picked up.

It was rumoured that AV has strong ties to the Dallas organization and was basically a done deal there before the Rangers came knocking (presumably with a bigger cheque).

So an available AV and a vacant post in Dallas? Seems like a fit.

I have feeling Hithcock's retirement party was pushed up due to AV becoming available.

I always mix up the Stars and the Wild, so it'd make sense that they both beat the Flames to great coaches.

How do you even know Brad have already talked to AV? There's a lot of reasons why AV might prefer a warm southern US City.

And while you can easily argue BB is a better coach than GG, it's a much more difficult to show he's "great" or that he would have done much better with this roster.

You have to take your time when the guy you wanted chooses Minnesota.

I’m sorry but how is Boudreau a great coach?

Made it to conference finals once and that was after beating the Jets and Flames in 2015. Not exactly world beater teams.

Great regular season coach but is about to lose in the first round for the fourth time in six years.

Far from a great playoff coach and isn’t that what matters?

Yeah, by all counts that did not happen.

What I would do for the flames to have another run where they make it to the playoffs for 6 straight years and advance to the second round in 2-3 of those years...may our next coach lead us there....
