VGK introduce "Knights Vow" discount for playoff tickets
Thought this was an interesting strategy to try and keep playoff tickets out of visiting team's fans hands.
In summary, in exchange for giving up their right to re-sell tickets on stub hub, season ticket holders will receive a significant discount on playoff tickets.

Quote:
1. There will be five different ticketing categories for Golden Knights home playoff games played at T-Mobile Arena.
- VGK Full Season Ticket Members will be automatically enrolled in the "Knights Vow," which provides the most significant price savings off the single game ticket price.
- As part of the Knights Vow program, members will receive tickets electronically via FlashSeats shortly after dates/times of the first-round home playoff games are set
- Resale through StubHub - the Golden Knights exclusive, authorized secondary partner - will not be available under this option
2. VGK Full Season Ticket Members may elect to opt out of the Knights Vow in order to have the opportunity to sell their tickets through the Golden Knights exclusive, authorized secondary partner, StubHub. However, their savings off the single game ticket price under this option will not be as significant as those who are enrolled in the Knights Vow program (Option 1 above).

Such a great out of the box idea that promotes the brand and the business but still gives the consumer an option.

How will this prevent season ticket holders who joined this program to re-sell the QR code for playoff tickets on Kijiji?

The Flames haven’t given discounts to season ticket holders in basically their history. They’ve increased ticket prices every year for as long as I can remember.
The Knights, perpetual sold out building, first place team, huge excitement, make the playoffs in their inaugural season, and then give their fans discounts on playoff tickets?
The Flames playoff tickets to my family’s season ticket prices were like a 60% increase or something crazy like that.
Lol.

The QR code changes every minute on the flash seats app. The code links to your account, not to the tickets, so in theory you can login to the app on the buyers phone but they’d have access to your account.

I assume this is a discount off of a premium. Not a discount from regular season prices.
Or you can look at it as no discount at all. They are just insanely jacking up the prices of tickets that you can resell.

Discounts off of what you’d pay with opting out, and then of course face value of the tickets which is more $ still.
Our first round Flames tickets would’ve cost about 30% less then what the face value is, and IIRC, that discount actually increases slightly as rounds go on and face values go up; again, over face value. And that’s about the discount for playoff tickets vs face value as it’s always been in our 15+ years.
Without a benchmark of history, Vegas can jack up face values to some super high level, and then offer the tiered discounts for the STH holders depending if they use the program or not.
It’s smart business for a very unique market...it’s also made a bit less complicated by having Stubhub as the partner for resale. With the Ticketmaster resale option like the Flames have, it becomes a bit more complicated with them being the regular ticket provider.
Also, wonder how that works if you have 3 buddies as part of your group...since you cant transfer them via email you’d have to all arrive at same time using the main ticket holders phone?

That's not true at all. When I had season tickets, I always sold my tickets at or below face value, but never below my own cost.
IIRC, last season during the regular season, my per game cost was about $75 per seat and face value ranged from about $120 to $160 (plus Ticketmaster's fees) depending on the opponent.
In the playoffs, I went to Game 3 and sold my tickets for Game 4 at face value. I got enough to pay for the tickets to both Games 3 & 4 and made a small profit.

I never had a problem with teams keeping visiting fans out of the arena for the playoffs. In fact, if the Flames ever play the Oilers I would hope the Saddledome staff denies entry to anyone in an Oilers jersey.

I have a problem if they "Outlaw" it, but this is a great idea. It gives people the choice with an incentive to keep their tickets.
Having been to a game there, the entire in game experience is excellent. The soundsystem during warmups makes it feel like a club, really pumps you up.

That's exactly how it works. When we went to the Vegas game everyone had to be with me as I bought all our tickets and they were on my Flash app.
It's also the same app they use for concert tickets too. I was talking to someone there who had extra concert tickets, but part of the deal in buying her extras was that you had to show up and go in with her because all the tickets were in her name and on her account app.

That's not even remotely true.
Yes, the Flames charged more for playoff tickets than they did regular season, but they gave season ticket holders a huge discount compared to people buying through ticketmaster. The article isn't saying that Vegas is discounting the playoff tickets from the price paid during the regular season.
In the 2014-15 season a pair of tickets in the regular season in the green section was about $84. In the first round against Vancouver those tickets cost $118 for a STH, which is 40% higher than the regular season. To buy those tickets on ticketmaster it cost $260. So the Flames gave me a discount of 55% of what the general public paid. In round two the STH cost went to $138 for a pair of seats in the green. I don't have the public cost, but I would guess it was over $300.
During the regular season I pay about $90 for a pair of tickets to each game in the green section. The general public pays between $147.85 and $197.85 for the same pair of tickets, depending on the day of week and opponent. So, yes, the Flames are giving me a discount to buy all 41 games and the preseason.
