LeBrun: Flames willing to listen on Gillies or Rittich for a scoring winger
per Lebrun on TSN's insider trading.
Essentially said the Flames had to get creative to make a trade because they moved their 1st and 2nd for Hamonic.
The text also said prospects and Lebrun said Rittich as well, but he seemed to think Gillies as the piece they are dangling
https://www.tsn.ca/video/insider-tra...r-nash~1320359
LeBrun actually has been one of the big insiders to actually foretell a few of the recent Flames moves before they happened for example the Hamonic and Smith deals and Brouwer signing.

I can’t see much of a scoring winger for either of those two.

There are a few teams which would be very interested in Gilles. Aging starter with no one in the pipeline.

Gillies would make a lot of sense for Ottawa. Anderson is getting real old and Condon is basically a tandem stopgap.

Makes sense - the Flames are deep in goaltending prospects.
However, they're also deep amongst defensemen. . . If the organization thinks Brodie is salvageable, they still have Gio with lots in his tank, and Hamilton, Brodie, and Hamonic already established. As such, they could give up one of Andersson, Kylington, or Fox (Valimaki's a no-go IMO) to land a non-rental scoring forward without hamstringing the organization.

Can't imagine any of them really have enough value. Parsons probably has the most value as far as our goaltenders go.
Have to think Andersson/Fox/Dube are the prospects the Flames would have to move for a top 6 scoring winger

In order of interest, Andersson, Dube then Gillies. That's with Parsons off the table.

Gillies makes a lot more sense as a trade piece as he's been considered a top goaltending prospect for some time and should be getting close to making the jump to the NHL. I wouldn't be surprised if a few teams covet him and he's able to fetch more than we may expect.

On the Fan some analyst said Gillies and Rasmus have good value. I think Bennett still holds some value as well.

I would like to hold on to Anderson. The team only has two years left of Brodie, Stone, and Hamonic as they all hit UFA and the Flames will need home grown replacements.

I heard that too, I believe it was Chris Johnson. Said he has heard about interest in Gillies and Rasmus Andersson from other teams.

Yeah the Flames have some trade chips if you include Gillies...Bennett, Backlund (FA), Brodie...all should be attractive to to varying degrees to other teams.

Looking at our prospects...I always land on Gillies as most likely to trade too. But I do think that leaves the Flames vulnerable after Smith and before Parsons. Everyone OK with Rittich as a starter here for a year?

Well probably have to add, and since our checkers have more value to the Flames than they do in a trade, I would think a defenseman is going to have move. My only candidate would be Stone at this point, especially if the team thinks Andersson is ready and can handle the role - especially with his heavy shot on the right side.
I absolutely don't want to trade Rittich though, I think we have a diamond in the rough worth keeping.

I'd be reluctant to deal any of our D prospects, as in 2.5 seasons Brodie, Stone and Hamonic are all set to be UFA's at 30 years of age.
We will need that group of Dmen to rebuild the D core on the fly so as not to waste the remainder of the forward cores prime before the window closes.
Valimaki - Andersson
Kylington - Fox
Two lefty's and two righty's to hopefully rebuild with around Hamilton and Gio from 2020 on.
