that is one of my favorites.

Many of the articles are deep meaningful insight. Others are just fun. That one was fun.

My favorite part:

Quote:
It’s pretty cool to play PlayStation with one of your idols. I wish I could play with Ovi — that would be sick. Ovi, are you reading this? Do you game?

Yup, we all said some pretty stupid things when we were 19.

I'm sure Ovi's idea of a good time doesn't include a Playstation haha.

I actually enjoyed that article. It was a nice window into a young star's personal life and a classy way to publicly say how much he loves the city and the people, during a time when Winnipeg gets dumped on quite a bit (which is getting tiring, to be honest).

You don't typically see this from players of this age. Refreshing.

That'll make him even more of a fan favourite in that city.

Good to see that Laine is happy in Winnipeg.

Johnny seems to like Calgary; not sure about Matthews in Toronto or even Boeser in Vancouver. Then there is McCrossover in Edmonton -- I think we all know the answer to that one (suffice it to say I don't think he'll be writing a Players Tribune article any time soon about falling in love with Edmonton).

Matthews seems to be quite happy here ~ living in the GTA I see more buds games than I'd like to admit but there is no doubt there is a positive buzz about the youth movement here in T.O. and they are a very exciting team to watch.

Players they can't stand:
Gardiner (Basically their Brodie, good offensive #'s, especially assists, but makes brain farts in his own zone. They want to fire him into the sun though which is a bit much)
Bozak
JVR

Young players they like to dump on this year:
Nylander and Marner... you should have heard some of the fans I work with when these guys 'struggled' out of the gate. They both were well over 20 points through the first quarter of the season but because their goal totals were down they were the brunt of many of the complaints from TO fans I talked with.

No, they just need to turn it off and then back on again quickly, every 7-10 minutes or so.

It's a minor nuisance for anyone doing usual internet activities - browsing sites, watching streams or videos. For a hardcore competitive CoDhead though, it'd be bonkers. The connection is fine enough that you're able to play, but as soon as you're midway through a game, probably dominating if you're Laine, you mysteriously disconnect.

I hope Wheeler plays online poker too.

Also Laine on the first day of being a UFA. "Later yo!"

The kid is Finnish -- Winnipeg it's an exotic foreign metropolis compared to most places in Finland.

And I love the article, you have to understand the Finnish sense of humor. The author definitely to pains to make clear he's just joking. Normally everything would be delivered more dryly.

This is the only Players Tribune article that feels like it is the player talking to you. I liked it!
