If I remember some of my engineering textbooks; I bet that would have cost about $200 in a university bookstore.

For sure, I ordered all of my textbooks online that year because it was just so much cheaper than the bookstore and easier on my broke student budget.
Textbooks are such a rippoff, especially for profs who only reference them once or twice during the semester.

My first purchase that shows up is a CD on January 6, 2003, it doesn't seem to let me go back before 2003. I probably started buying music from them after they bought CDNow (my previous go-to for music) in 2002, I believe I bought books from Amazon before then.
