Default Vancouver airport shuttle

So I'm flying in to Vancouver early on a weekday morning and then need to get to Burnaby... Is my only options a cab or transit?

Is price / time an object?

Transit is probably cheapest and maybe fastest from the airport. Are you staying at a hotel in Burnaby that would have a shuttle service?

Train is pretty straight forward from there, done it a time or two. But it depends where in Burnaby and if time is an issue a cab ride would be $50ish I imagine and the way to go.

Canada way in Burnaby.

Im working in our Burnaby office that day to see Sam Harris that evening, I land at 630am and will need to be at the building for 8. Transit shows 74 minutes which is a hair too long cuz I dont want to show up late at a new office

The Canada Line out of the airport is fantastic, and probably faster than driving/cabbing. The issue is that it doesn't really go anywhere near BBY. You'd have to take the line downtown and then reconnect there to a line that does go into BBY.

You can always take the Canada the line as close as it will take you and then bus from there as well. Google Maps will probably give you the fastest option.

You can also download the blacktop taxi app, which will call a taxi for you and let you see where on the map the taxi actually is. Although, there are typically taxis around most of the skytrain stations. So taking the skytrain as close as it will get you, then taxiing could be a compromise.

a cab will probably cost you about 60 bucks and take less than 50 minutes.

Canada Way goes from New Westminster to Vancouver, so it's hard to give a specific suggestion without knowing which part of it you're going to.

But if you want to save on the cab your best bet is probably to go most of the way there by transit and cab for the last bit. Taking the Canada Line to either the Marine Dr. Station or the 49th St. station then getting on a bus that heads east (the 100 on Marine Dr. or the 049 on 49th St.) would take about 35-40 minutes and can get you within a 10-15 minute cab ride of almost anywhere on Canada Way.

looking at the train option for Canada Way it seems I'll save maybe 20 dollars but also run the risk of lateness. Looks like its a cab ride for me. ah well.

Also have to consider traffic. I don't know what it might be like at 6:30, but in genera the trains are immune from congestion, etc. I think you can probably see on Google Maps what traffic is like at certain times of day?

In the not so distant past, I did this trip several times per month (Airport to Metrotown).....have probably done it forty or more times now.

The train is a cheap option and will take you about 40-50 minutes. It's certainly not a bad option at all, although you will definitely be rubbing shoulders with the local commuters. Note that you'll have to switch lines, although that isn't really a hassle.

A cab ride will be about $40-$50 with tip (depending upon traffic....rush hour?) and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

I'm a moderate spendthrift, but I would recommend the cab 10 times out of 10. Comfort, predictability, and door to door service. Well worth it.

Cabs from YVR have adopted a flat rate system now:

http://www.yvr.ca/en/passengers/transportation/taxis

If you land at 0630 with only carry on luggage, you'll be at your office in plenty of time. There's also different car services but they can be quite expensive.

Can't you expense your cab fare?

Just a tip...if taking public transit, the ticket mark up at the airport transit station is ridiculously high. You will save $5-10 by walking to the 7/11 on the lower flood and buying an all day transit pass.

Either way would be tight. You land at 630am and then by the time you get off the plane and out the front door, it's 645am in the best case scenario. Need to queue for the taxi and traffic can be dicey especially if it's raining. If you can, move the start of your day or meeting to 830am. No point running around like a madman and stressed while sitting in a cab looking at your watch.

Definitely cab.
Train will be multiple lines and out of your way for getting to Canada Way.
