I think the person happiest about this may end up being Auston Matthews.

He's better than Draisaitl but not as good as McDavid. Makes sense.

Jesus did Draisaitls contract break the system. Eichel is a stud for sure but I would have guessed 8.5-9.

Eichel could very well be the 2nd best forward in the league for the next 10 years. Seems like pretty good value to me.

I guess he's no longer that disappointed that Draisatl cost him 2m.

Great player. My fantasy team wishes reinhart gets put back on his line and PP.

Sorry, don't agree. No athlete is worth this amount of money. I don't care how you try to justify it.

Let the criticism of this post begin!

I agree he's in the middle but since both McDavid and Draisaitl are overpaid so is Eichel.

No need to criticize, you sound like you know you are wrong and just want a debate. You're wrong, moving on.

Seems steep, especially for a guy who hasn’t yet cracked 60 points in the league. But you’re paying for potential here, so it either pays off when he starts lighting it up or becomes an anchor when he fails to realize his potential. Will be interesting to watch it unfold either way.

Man these contracts have been insane lately, especially with the cap not expected to go up. He's worth it compared to Draisatl but wow, I'm glad Monahan and Gaudreau needed contracts last year and not this year

That is what will make this contract so bad. In the past, cap would go up and up every year. Without 10 years of cap inflation, this is a huge cap hit.

Stronger Canadian dollar will likely raise the cap next year. It's all moot till we see what the lockout does though.

A ton of coin, but it was the price that had to be paid. Now he can go out and earn it. Excited to have him locked up for 9 years!
