Ugh, this is the pre-season song... I was hoping it was a temporary placeholder for something a little more "exciting" and upbeat.
Does anyone actually watch this and get pumped up before the game? I'm scared to think and embarrassed to say I'd honestly rather the Nickelbak song from a few years ago over this....
The Michael Bay "fire clouds" that appear during the hitting sequences can go away too.
Disappointing for sure, but can see how it may touch the "country/western" image of Alberta.
I hate country music, but that was pretty kick ass. In all the mistakes the Flames have made with branding the past few years, this is actually pretty good. Good video and solid message. I could even see that song being a hit with country fans.

I am not a big country fan but that is a good video. I think Calgary in general should embrace our country roots more and become a Nashville North. It also looks like Blake Reid Band is local talent. Like Harvey being in the video as well. Thumbs up for me.

I had no idea he was asked to do that. Definitely going for the local talent, he's certainly not well known but he's done pretty well for himself in the last little while. He did the "Hell or high Water" song after the flood.
Anyhoo, not my favorite. I usually get more pumped up with well known artists and well known songs. Seriously, a little eye of the tiger would be okay with me.
Seems good enough for what they were likely going for.
Not terrible, but custom songs for teams are rarely not cringe worthy so they executed pretty well all things considered. Just wish 'It's Go Time' wasn't a thing
Their 2011-2012 one was sickkkkk. It actually won a media award:
... so much better.
Something like this would have been much better. Reliving those moments with the calls from the announcers and the sound from the dome is what I love about videos like that.
I don't hate country or how the song is sung, I hate the need for everything to be about fire or the colour red and that half of that video is of the band not the team.
