Islanders acquire Corey Perry from Dallas for Bailey +

LW Josh Bailey
D Chad Ruhwedel
D Dean Kukan

Perry had an awful season in the NHL last year but is still an upgrade on Bailey. I'm buying in on him as a reclamation project of sorts, although he's still pretty good. I give up Bailey, who is also good but slightly worse, Ruhwedel, whose 1-way deal was killing me, and Kukan, who's a decent prospect behind a stacked Blue Jackets system.

The Islanders are in need of centremen after the retirement of Mike Fisher, as well as help on the right wing and defense positions.

It's nice to be on the right side of some for a change... just goes along with my new philosophy. We view Perry as a possible core piece going forward, while Bailey doesn't necessarily fit into that view.
