Icon46 Nucks sign Gagner (3x$3.15m), Del Zotto (2x$3), Nilsson (2x$2.5m), Burmistrov ($900k)

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Lots of moves coming for VAN. Looks like (unconfirmed) Gagner at 3x3-ish, Del Zotto at 2x3, Nilsson at 2x2.5-3 and Burmistrov at $900K.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
That Nilsson (VAN) should be $2.5-$3M TOTAL

upd: Canucks confirm all 4 deals and that the AAV for Nilsson is $2.5 mil

That's a great deal for the Nucks on Burmistrov. Got him at a dirt cheap price.

More like rebuild is on now, I think the Sedins get dealt at the draft and these players are bought in to be traded for picks at the trade deadline.

The Sedins are never leaving Vancouver.

The things with the Sedins is that, you can't trade one away to one team and another to another team(they just suck that way.) I can see what you are saying Textcritic and it may be true.

It's a rebuild. The Canucks have accepted that they will be a very "meh" team.

Also you can't move the sedins at the draft next year, they wont have contracts or will have just re-upped

I can't argue with any of the moves, all are 27 or younger

Nilsson is young and a decent 1b with markstrom that gives Demko 2 more years

MDZ replaces sbisa and if he puts up good pp numbers could get decent trade return

Gagner I think they use him like columbus, power play specialist and plays on 3rd or 4th line

Burmistrov is worth a cheap flier

Basically if any work out they have bought a free trade chip, if they don't it's no negative cap hit by the time they need to spend

This is what they need should have been doing for 2 years

Puts them in a position where none of the prospects need to be rushed. Unless they earn the spot in camp then boeser, juolevi, goldolbin, Virtanen, Subban etc can all start in Utica or London for OJ

All pretty short term cheap deals. Screams "trade deadline chips to accumulate 3rd and 4th rounders". They know what they are.

On the other hand, Del Zotto at 2x3 makes the Stone signing look even worse.

I would've preferred Del Zotto's contract over Stone's

MDZ really struggled in Philly away from gudas so I'm not surprised he's cheap

But to me he could really raise his value, if he can put up 40 points as a lead pp d man and if they shelter him with tanev so his peripherals look good he could be worth quite a bit

He wouldn't work in Calgary though, he's an OFD and he's not getting pp time ahead of Dougie or Giordano
