Goodies from Queensryche

Very interesting article on the sequel to Operation Mindcrime and the subsequent tour. Sounds really cool and again, pushing the envelope for rock performances. Good stuff!

A little late for Calgarians...they played last night at Mac Hall (oh how the mighty have fallen).

Only canadian dates left are tonight in Saskatoon and tomorrow in Winnipeg.

I saw them in 2003 on a double bill with Dream Theater in a 2500-3000 seat theater. Sold out and a great show. The jam with all musicians on the stage at the end was incredible.

Unfortunately DeGarmo apparently left the band again after that tour. Their music just isn't the same when Degarmo isn't involved. But a sequel to mindcrime should be good. Still one of my favourite albums of all time. It gets a turn in the CD player at work every couple of weeks.

Chris DeGarmo actually wrote and recorded with the band on the last album, tribe. They've been pretty hush-hush about his involvement (yay or nay) with OMCII. My guess is that he's involved.

One of my three or four favorite bands of all time. I have every thing they have ever done. Even the much maligned "Hear in the Now Frontier" has started to grow on me.

My interest in them has introduced me to several great offshoots as well.

Scott Rockenfield has teamed up with Idaho guitarist Paul Speer and the two have released 2 excellent instrumental albums. I own one, Hell's Canyon, it's fantastic. Guitarist Michael Wilton has another band called Soulbender. They released a CD a couple of years ago which is very, very good. Rockenfield and former guitarist/producer Kelly Gray also have a band called Slave To The System. They have one CD released, it is also excellent. They just signed on with a bigger record company and already have 2 more CD's in the bank that will be released soon.

Operation Mindcrime, for me, is the greatest mainstream metal album ever made. It is perfect. There is nothing missing.

Thats awesome Dis. I love the premise for OMC2, with him getting out of jail and the "world" has come full circle in the 20 years and he is coming outinto the same system that put him away. Very clever, which is obviously the big appeal to their music.I'd still give the edge to Empire for favourite album. I love almost every song on that disc.
