Default Philip DeFranco is forming an independent news network

There has been a lot of behind the scenes noise for the past couple of weeks of something happening with Philip DeFranco's channels/company.

Word today that he is becoming independent again after having purchased back his shows/branding/channels.

He will be forming an independent news network built around the Philip DeFranco (5.3 million subscribers) and Philly D (1.1 million subscribers) YouTube channels.

To provide some backing in the current environment of collapsing ad revenues for YouTube creators, he has launched a Patreon campaign.

The Patreon campaign has built up over 6,000 patrons in 3 hours.

I'm really intrigued to watch this develop.

I've never heard of him. Is he Breitbart-esque or left wing or what?

Is every video going to have a jump cut every 8 seconds?

Wow, I've heard this guy's name before but never watched him.

It's unbearable. Once you. Realize. He makes. A cut. Every sentence.

Patreon really is taking over when it comes to content creation. I've never noticed creators can mask their monthly income, but other people in his category are making about $35,000/month.

Wow . . . Seems like you can create mindless internet content and get paid to be a millionaire.

But I guess that's how some people make a living through social media accounts, attending events, traveling, and advertising products and crap to their followers. Must be nice.

As far as Youtube content goes, DeFranco is probably as universally liked as it gets.

I guess it just goes to show how different online communities can be.

There are so many ways to make money now. (what are we doing here).
There are Instagram food pages with millions of hits. Or hot Instagram models who advertise clothing. Or hot mommy blogs.

Or these two!

I don't care for the vast majority of content generated by people who make a living off youtube, etc. but this attitude is just plain obsolete. the amount of money you make has never been about how hard you work, it's how widely your product is consumed. through books and magazines to radio to tv to internet, that's how it's always been and that's how it always will be.

or if it's so easy to make millions doing this kind of thing, why aren't you doing it?

People make tons of money off of memes. MEMES. ####ing cat pictures, SpongeBob pic edits, and crappy filters on normal everyday photos. Or if you're feeling ambitious, taking someone else's pictures, re-posting, and providing a caption.

At the end of the day, it's about how many followers you have, and producing content that has an audience, as mindless as it can be sometimes. Doesn't even have to be truthful, just captivating.

If you think about it, people get paid to "make noise".

It's smart, I'll give them that. But there is only so much of it go around; not everyone can be a millionaire off of being lit AF on social media. And I never said I want to do it or be a millionaire from it.

It's not just the jump cuts, it his speaking volume and cadence. Every. Sentence. Is. The. Same.

Start with a high volume, then reduce the volume, and tail off to quicker quieter speaking with less pause between each word. If you watch his videos. This pattern never goes away.
