Playoff tickets for dummies
I have a confession, I have never been to the Dome for a playoff game before. I have either been to busy or too broke (or the Flames were terrible...Young Guns) to get tickets and now that has changed I have no idea what the best way to snag tickets. I submitted my email for the lottery but I am never that lucky. I live in Lethbridge so standing in line is not an option, so I am thinking Stub Hub is my best option. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

- Make multiple email accounts for the lottery and buddy up with friends who also should make multiple email accounts (if one of you get them you agree to take the others).
- Check ticketmaster constantly throughout the day as they release unused tickets before the games.
- Be willing to pay a lot on Stubhub and Kijiji.
That's pretty much all you can do these days. I don't think you can even stand in line anywhere for tickets. It's all a lottery/draw now.
Those three strategies worked great for me in 2015. I was able to find tickets to every game without ever paying more than $100 for PL.

Last I went to a playoff game was in 07/08, while I was a starving student in 3rd year University. I believe a single ticket cost me almost $200 bucks, and I was 10th row, second bowl.
My friends and I sat in the computer lab the day/time the tickets were released for the game, and rotated between 8 computers on TicketMaster, hitting refresh in hopes we'd get tickets. After 30 minutes of this, one of the computers hit, and we bought tickets to that night's game. I don't recall the exact time we went on, but I do remember going on a few hours before game time, at whatever time they released the reserve seats from players/team.

What polak said.
It's only via lottery these days I'm in Lethbridge too, and I won the right to buy for two games in 2015. Unfortunately was only able to go to one game but I offered the next game to my friend and he was not in his right mind and he declined. I never thought about signing up with more than one email account. I won the chance to buy two games with only one account. Purely luck of the draw.
But when you get that email that you get to buy, move quickly because choices dry up quickly.

There's also NHL Ticket Exchange- part of Ticketmaster. Prices will be over face value, but more secure than Kijiji.
Myself, I wouldn't chance Kijiji. You have no guarantee and likely no recourse if you get ripped off.

No need for that. If you have a Gmail account, here is a helpful hint:
You can add a "+" and then any word after the first part of your address, and then any word. Many systems will see this as different email addresses but on your end they all work the same.
Example: if my address is iceman90@gmail.com I could use
iceman90+playofflottery1@gmail.com
iceman90+playofflottery2@gmail.com
iceman90+playofflottery3@gmail.com
iceman90+playofflottery4@gmail.com
and the system will likely see them all as different addresses.

This link is posted on kijiji. I've noticed this company sell tickets throughout the regular season as well but never bought from them. Wou;d anyone trust tickets from a company like this?

I live in Lethbridge and sell tickets on CP, Kijiji, and NHL Ticket Exchange, but now mostly to the repeat buyers. I sell most of my tickets now to the repeat buyers because they like my seats and know who they are buying from.
Your best bet is to find someone who will sell to you privately and then at least you have a trust factor that you wont get ripped off. Plus, make sure you get the electronic tickets. Don't fall for the print offs or hard copy false security, any season ticket holder can cancel off your tickets and print new ones if they are a scammer.

I went to 2 games in 2015, one in the first round and one in the 2nd. The first round tickets I got through the lottery, and the 2nd round ones I bought right here on CP for a relatively reasonable price.
StubHub is going to cost an arm and a leg but at least the tickets are guaranteed. Personally I would avoid kijiji, craigslist, and the like. Playoff tickets are a scammer's paradise.

Neeper has an app called TikTiks which people post tickets on there, lower fees than ticketmaster. (These are usually season ticket holders selling their seats/tickets)

You can buy through a season ticket holder. Some of us will sell for over face value, but at least neither of you would be paying the ticketmaster/stubhub/ticketgator fees. It's also much safer than kijiji or ebay. I've brought up the discussion on CP before to let STHs sell for above face value, but it was wildly unpopular, and not well received.

You can always keep an eye on CP.
Some of the non-scumbag STH's will list here for face value.

It's no longer just an email address though. You need to set up a 'light' account.
Provide Address, phone #, etc.
I got my update email today

Seem so much easier in 04. I just sent my pregnant wife down to stand in line at Sportchek.

I have sold 6 pairs of tickets this year on there, and bought one set. It is quick, easy and safe. It also supports a local company/CP member.

Stub Hub is definitely expensive for playoffs, but if they go down 0-2 early, it may open up. In 2015 in the second round vs Anaheim, after coming back to Calgary in an 0-2 hole, I managed to snag not bad seats for game 3 (considering they weren't even bleeders) for $92; almost $60 under face value!
The game was so fun and such a classic if you recall, that I tried again for game 4 on there...basically the exact same tix I got for $92 were now going for nearly $400! ...so, hope they start the series in a hole, errrr..

I think it would be reasonable to allow season ticket holders on here to sell for more than face value for the playoffs. I think the deals from respectable members on here would still be way better than what would be offered on Kijiji.
