Because they'd rather play the guy on the ATO?

Probably want Gillies down for the AHL playoff run, and get Elliott a game before the playoffs. That said surprised the don't want McDonald down in the ECHL for their playoff run.

Yup, they probably want Gillies playing and staying fresh. The Flames are going to ride Elliott and they probably don't want Gillies riding the pine.

If something happens to Elliott, I suspect Gillies comes back and Rittich still backs-up (or they alternate until one loses).

If the game is meaningless to the Flames (Nashville loses), I could see Rittich getting the 3rd period.

I'm sure the Flames would rather have McDonald up for the AHL playoff run even as a backup.

How many Flames prospects are even in the ECHL?

Pollock, Culkin, Kanzig and Falkovsky? How many of these guys are legitimate prospects? I'd argue none with a slight glimmer of hope for Falkovsky.

What's wrong with Pollock? It's only his first pro year, and he did well enough in the ECHL.

People give up on prospects waaay too soon.

Yes he has better numbers, but Gillies has been much better than Rittich in the last few weeks.

Fair enough but I'm just being realistic. Look at Mangiapane in his first yr pro.

I don't know much about Pollock so I agree I might be giving up on him when I don't really know anything about him but you'd probably have to agree the Russell haul doesn't look as good as it did at last years deadline.

Jokipakka was a disappointment and Pollock I'm sure didn't fully meet expectations.

Typically I don't give up early on prospects that I see NHL potential in. I could be wrong about Pollock though I will give you that.

Maybe Rittich gets the start like Gillies did the other night? I wonder who will sit out tonight because I would like to see Andersson play.

No chance whatsoever. They don't want to sit Elliott or Gilles too long. That's why these moves happened.
