1) Jerseys are not designed exclusively by the teams. Jersey designs are done in collaboration with the NHL, the teams, and producer (Adidas in this case).
2) Ken King is in the business of making money. Retros will always sell. Whether they come in as a 3rd jersey, a special occasions retro jersey for retro night or some other special event - so why would they make it their default home? The best business decision would be to introduce a new home and away jersey, and then sell us a retro jersey on-top of that.
...but hey, who am I to stand in the way of more negativity and piling on that the internet is so good at. Enjoy your hate, enjoy your insults.

Fingers crossed for the return of the horse head logo over top of crossing flag poles, one with an Alberta flag and one with a Canadian flag. One shoulder patch will be a picture of Ken King, the other will be George Canyon. On the back, instead of player names, there will be a url for the new arena fund Kickstarter campaign.
People will buy it in droves and it will be declared the most successful apparel launch since the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350.
