LeBrun: Flames interested in Vrbata
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Something to consider, I suppose, for teams thinking of trading for Vrbata... I'm told Calgary is among teams with interest
There are potential bonus overages with Vrbata
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Vrbata can earn another $250k bonus if his team makes the playoffs plus another $250k for each playoff round reached after that...

These aren't the forwards you're looking for.

eeeh. not my first choice. I'd rather go for a guy like Sharp if we were going after a rental.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Bennett - Vrbata
Chiasson - Stajan - Brouwer

Where would he even play? Does Vrbata take Ferland's spot? This move doesn't make sense but again another player that Treliving and Gulutzan are familiar with

I can't wait for the deadline to pass so I never have to hear this again. Iginla is a shadow of his former self. Please, god, no.

I don't understand the reasoning. Vrbata doesn't put us over the top into contender status and doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade on anyone currently on the roster. Just say no to old rentals.
Treliving seems to move in the shadows though so hopefully not a worry. If the media says we're in on Vrbata then we're probably in on Galchenyuk or something.

If he came to Calgary he'd instantly be Calgary's top scorer. He's got 2 more points than Backlund. Not sure why so many don't like this move

18 points in 42 playoff games?
Not crazy production, but not "disappears" either.

Vrbata's contract has performance bonuses that have already been achieved. Playing 30 games (500K) and scoring 40 points (500K). Would those be paid out fully by Arizona or would the team acquiring be on the hook for those bonuses at a pro-rated value?

Agreed. I'd also prefer Sharp, but why would we not want this add to our top 9, regardless where he'd fit if the price was right?

I think BT should be addressing the 1st line RW issue; Ferland may be playing well right now but I don't believe he's a true option.

Not a fan. Not much of a fan of Vrbata, and not much of a fan of going after rentals.

I completely agree with you - but if the bar to clear is acquiring a player who "puts us over the top into contender status", I'm not sure there's a player in the league who qualifies. Even guys who are untouchable and unavailable.
