Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Hearing that the San Jose Sharks are close to acquiring winger Jannik Hansen from the Vancouver Canucks.

Not a surprise, given what was reported earlier tonight. Wonder what the return will be.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
VAN return on Hansen to SJ is expected to be Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional fourth-round pick.

Not a bad prospect for Van, thankfully he didn't come here.. over-rated always and has been.

Guess I will be getting a honey badger sweater in the off season
Hansen was a good second line player even played alot of the last season with the Sedins lots of speed with really good heart quiet when he does interviews.finally starting to get some hands in the last couple years used to get lots of breakaways but with no hands he didn't score alot.not a bad return for a guy that went 287 overall in 2004

Hansen is an OK player but I don't see him being any type of a go to guy. I myself don't know who hobgoblin is, but great name.

I thought Goldobin was one of the best rookies in the chl rookie showcase in his draft year.
No clue how he's been since, but you have to think there's some pretty high upside still.

How on earth is Hansen worth Goldobin?

According to Mackenzie:
Goldobin is 21-yr-old SJ first rounder in 2014 (27th overall) who has put some nice numbers in AHL this season -- 15 G and 41 Pts in 46 GP.

Have to say, Dim Jim has done very well in turning Hansen & Burrows into Goldobin & Dahlen.

Goldobin and Dahlen in the matter of two days... Canucks acquire two top 5 prospects on their team and Dim Jim has now won two trades in a row.

That's a good return actually.
Good on the Canucks for actually building towards future instead of futility in 9-10th place. It's going to be a long road for them though with another less than ideal draft position and a weak draft.
Flames lucked out choosing to rebuild when Monahan, Tkachuk, Bennett were up for grabs 4-6 picks in.

Throw a handful of darts at the board, a couple are likely to stick here or there.

I'm guessing Hansen was scratched from the tonight's game against DET (still in-progress). Wouldn't that have given away that a trade was imminent?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Benning move both prospects in the space of two years. He has the patience and attention span of a gerbil.
