Default Gaudreau missed team bus in NYC

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/w...growing-pains/

Remember a year ago, when Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Lance Bouma all arrived on Super Bowl Monday late for a practice? Bouma was kicked off the ice by then-coach Bob Hartley, practice was ended early and the three were made healthy scratches the next night.

Gaudreau missed the team bus for the Flames practice at Central Park earlier this month, arriving just in time for the start of practice in a New York taxi. These things happen, even to the most dedicated players. But when they keep happening to the same players, it’s cause for concern.

Trade Gaudreau, he's obviously a drunk.

No need to trade him, but there's enough smoke around him that there has to be some truth to him having off ice issues. I don't care how much partying anyone does, but it's also clearly impacting his on ice play, and that's not acceptable, he should be better than he has been.

For me it sheds a lot of light on things like the 4th line demotion, and potentially why we don't see his team mates back him up with much vigor. You earn that, and if keep letting the team down by not be ready to play or not meeting team commitments, no one will rush to stick up fir you.

Surprised this took so long for the media to report as it made some waves on social media the moment he stepped out the taxi.

When incidents start repeating to the same guy, red flags need to be raised.

Hopefully this is the last thing with him off ice.

Man this is just a season to forget for Johnny. Hopefully he grows up a bit between now and the start of next season.

So two occurances is 'keep happening' which implies frequency...? Man this is the type of article that tries to stir up #### and they are using his recent demotion to the 4th line as a reason to run a story like this. I think he seemed to take the demotion the right way, Gulutzan made comments after the game against Philly that Johnny did well with the defensive side of the game so I'm not going to read too much into fluff stories like this. No surprise that it was written by Oiler fanboy Spector... how'd that Yakupov pick work out?? Taylor Hall?? Still keeping Eberle??? He has no place to talk about disgruntled star players like he did with Johnny here.

A few years ago in Edmonton the kids were running the show, and management failed to build a proper veteran support group. Rumours flew about that group being out on the town too much, though I should say, as someone who chased those rumours, I never found enough concrete evidence to write the piece.
That must have been some OJ Simpson tracking down the real killers type of investigation by Spector - what a tool

Teams don't take players missing the bus lightly.
It was an 11:30 practice so maybe a 10 or 10:30 bus. No excuse.

Players do this all the time - I have seem a team bus arrive in the arena for the morning skate with maybe 10 players on it - the rest make their own way there - and its not a problem if they are on time.

Big story about nothing if he was on time for practice

Late for practice once last season. On time for practice in an unusual public venue this season despite missing the team bus.

Lesson learned. Non-story. Hope the clicks were worth it, SN. Feed the content engine.
