Default Oilers acquire Henrik Samuelsson from Coyotes in exchage for Mitchell Moroz

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
#Oilers have acquired forward Henrik Samuelsson from #Coyotes in exchange for forward Mitchell Moroz.

The Oilers continue to acquire former Oil Kings.

Samuelsson is clearly by far better than Moroz . What gives?

They exchanged an Oil King for an Oil King.

Samuelsson was a fairly highly regarded prospect a few years ago. It's unlikely either have a future in the NHL at this point.

I don't think Moroz was ever highly regarded. Many Oilers fans were upset with that pick.

2 bad AHL'ers. I guess the Oilers wanted a right wing?

Guys like Samuelsson always interest me.

Had a great rookie season in the AHL, got NHL action, but then his play and production just regressed to the point where he became an afterthought.

Just wonder what happens to them to see their play fall off so much.

Yeah like 5 years ago. Now they're both pretty equal and both are AHL scrubs.

Samuelsson had a really solid rookie AHL season, then appears to have fallen off a cliff. Has he had some injuries?

Ah Mitch. I still remember at the young stars tournament where a group of flames fans were just relentless and you could tell it was getting to him.

Meh, one (so far) failed prospect for another. Sometimes this works out as the new team can get something out of the player that the other team couldn't. No risk to this move and Sammy is a better prospect so I approve. Moroziuk was never going to make it in Edmonton and Sammy has a better chance. This is from an Oil Kings fan who watched both play a lot.

Oil Kings are like Pokemon up there.

How much will they give up for Lazar?

This is a (very low probability but maybe) something for nothing trade by the grease. Samuelsson was pretty good but fell off after several bad injuries that worsened his already bad skating. However, he was definitely on an NHL pace before that, where Moroz never has been and never will be.

Low risk medium reward for the Oilers. Reminds me of deals like Knight for Shore.

In the end deals like this are forgotten years from now.

I wonder if this deal was the direct cause of this morning's spike in parade spectator supplies in Northern Alberta.
