Default Going To Weezer?

Got some tickets and am pretty excited to see them even if its at the Grey Eagle.

Have any of you gone to their shows? Or even the party after the show?

I've only seen them at X-Fest. Based on that, all I can tell you is that Weezer is much more popular than Jane's Addiction, as a lot of the crowd left after Weezer finished their set. I am definitely interested in going to this show though.

The best part about getting older is the fact that many of the bands I enjoy are playing smaller venues. Offspring and Weezer are playing Grey Eagle. Millencolin played Dickens. Good stuff.

I definitely hope they play more of their older albums rather than the ones that came out this decade, though White album has been one of the better ones.

Hoping for Beverley Hills intro song.

Offspring, good lord.

I was a dedicated Weezer fan back in my teens, but I think that everything done subsequent to Blue was so bad that I would have a hard time going back.

I could do with just a nice retrospective set where they played Pinkerton in its entirety, and then, the band collectively commits seppuku to a recording of "Beverly Hills."

They usually play pretty much all the hits. Really fun band, too, there's a reason all the medium sized festivals rush to book them despite very little commercial success for years.

What's "good lord" about Offspring? Like they're not your thing?

Yeah I have seen them a few times over the last couple years and they always put on a great show. They mostly stick to the older stuff and the hits.

No, I liked them when I was younger, but recently, did a re-listen, and surprise, surprise, it doesn't really hold up for me.

They had some fun hits afterwards, and I liked Make Believe. But you're right, Red Album onwards was tough.

Ah, I see. For some reason they did hold up for me amongst a lot of bands that didn't.

I still think Offspring is mostly trash after Ignition, but Ignition is so good that I'll always be a fan of the Offspring. A lot of Smash is good too, if you remove the radio hits.

Smash was really strong with the radio hits. Gotta Get Away, Bad Habit and Self Esteem were great. Only Come Out and Play was a little radio cringe worthy.

For years I thought Self Esteem was by Nirvana...

I saw Weezer at Mac Hall back in the day...and I remember the show to be somewhat disappointing. Not because they were bad, but because the songs sounded pretty much exactly like the album versions. It almost felt like someone pressed play on a CD. I don't necessarily want my live songs to sound totally different (because that can be somewhat annoying too if not done right), but there was basically zero deviation.

Hmm probably late 90s-ish? Post Pinkerton I think, but not big enough yet for stadiums I guess.

I may have seen them twice now that I think about it.
