Default Which player doing well in the league this year grinds your gears?

For me it's Draisaitl. I REALLY want Bennett to be better than him. It was sure looking good before with Leon's molasses speed and lack of confidence. Unfortunately now he is looking pretty damn good. Tons of confidence. I'm hoping he hits the wall soon and Bennett can pass him by in points.

Honorable mention to McWhiner but I might have to let that one go.

Maybe Weber?

I hate the Habs and was hoping the big trade would hurt them

I'm with you on Draisaitl. I still think Bennett could become the better player tho, but that Drai kid looks good.

Kesler. He had a pretty average year last year and looked to be on the decline, but so far looks to be back after a solid start. Just can't stand him as a player.

Kesler
Perry
Getzlaf

Power-forwards of the past have seen large drops in production once they reach 30, or shortly after. These 3 are 32 years old (or turning 32), and are still on pace for 70+ point seasons.

The Ducks are probably my most hated American team, so the sooner these 3 start playing like senior citizens, the better.

Alexander Radulov.

I hated the way he was in his previous NHL stint, especially when it came to a lack of professional commitment. He skulked off to the KHL for years, and did well there, but I had written him off as an Alexander Semin type of guy that you just can't even bother with at the NHL level.

Of course he comes in this year and has been nearly a point per game player for the Canadiens, doubling my hatred of him on account of the team he's found success with.

tl;dr-I don't like being proven wrong and I really hate it when a team I dislike gets a great player for cheap.

The gap between Draisaitl and Bennett is exaggerated a bit by how much better the Oilers' PP has been. 5 on 5 Draisaitl has 15 points and Bennett has 14, but on the PP it's 11 for Draisaitl to 2 for Bennett.

On-topic Kesler and Lucic for me.

I continue to have no doubt Bennett will be the better all-around player.

Draisaitl was more physically developed, and was always going to have more success early. Also, his game is all about offense, and offensive players have success early.

Bennett is going to be an all-around, tough as nails, compete hard kind of a guy. More like a Doug Gilmore or a Bobby Clarke. His value will go way beyond the points he puts up.

And the fact that half the refs in the league seem to have "Oiler fan syndrome" as that crap team gets so many more powerplays than the Flames do, thus further inflating Draisaitl's numbers.

McSavior by far bugs me the most especially how he lips off. Goes way over the top when he scores and anytime when things are not going their way during a game he skates over initiates a glove in the face and then on cue backs off and Lucic takes over. I seriously despise this kid.

Patrick Laine. He won't be 18 until April and he's already one of the best goal scorers in the league. Ovechkin did his time year after year to prove he was the best scorer. And now Laine possible gives him legitimate competition for that title. Similar to Crosby vs McDavid.

Drasaitl for me. I bet an Oiler fan last year $20 that Bennett would have more points and this year I went double or nothing. Not looking good for me right now

Chad Johnson! Did we let the next Kiprusoff walk for nothing?

Just kidding (mostly ). If it was any other team I'd be pissed, happy to see him succeeding here so far. And our goalies haven't been terrible either.

I don't care about Draisaitl at all. I hope he gets a nice expensive deal from the Oilers in the offseason.

McNugget (his name is so sandpaper-y thanks to the media), Russell (traitor slime), Draisaitl (because of the Bennet vs Drysaddle thing), Benn (for how he effortlessly seems to pick up points vs the Flames), Kesler (he's slime and I want him to become a useless grinder), Perry (he's slime), Stone (gave Gaudreau a run his rookie season. Johnny is better though and I like seeing him pull away statistically) ..and Bouwmeester, but not so much any more.

I'm actively cheering for Draisaitl. An expensive deal there can really handicap the Oilers

I've never really been bothered by someone's individual success, even Oilers. Team success bothers me a lot more. I suppose McDavid is annoying but him leading the league doesn't really anger me.

I do, however, take pleasure in watching the failures of certain players. Nugent-Hopkins and Eberle have been particularily fun this year, as has the mediocracy of just about every Canuck player. Lucic looks like a dud too, his stats are inflated from playing with McDavid.
