Default WJC: Semifinals. USA vs RUS 1pm MT. SWE vs CAN 5:30pm MT.

All 5 Flames prospects at the tourney have made it to the semi-finals, which means at least 3 and as many as 4 will be coming home with medals. The finals will be played tomorrow.

USA vs Russia 1pm MT TSN
Flames prospects:
Russia #19 Karnaukhov 5gp 2g 1a 3pts +2 7sog
USA #8 Fox 5gp 0g 1a 1pts +2 3sog
USA #1 Parsons .9167sv% 1.67gaa

After the heroics Parsons showed in the quarterfinals, like the below game saver, do the Americans stick with their goalie rotation or finally hand over the reigns to Parsons?

Sweden vs Canada 5:30pm MT TSN
Flames prospects:
Sweden #7 Kylington 5gp 0g 4a 4pts +5 13sog
Canada #9 Dube 5gp 0g 3a 3pts +4 5sog

Oh boy, Sweden looks strong. But as Canadian Head Coach Dominique Ducharme pointed out yesterday, Sweden always looks strong through the preliminary rounds and quarterfinals but seems to falter when the games matter (whether he provided the Swedes with some good bulletin board material is another subject).

I got Sweden and USA winning today. Hope I'm wrong on Sweden because I'd love to see Canada play either the US or Russia in the finals but I just don't see it happening for them unfortunately.

Parsons looks legit. The kid will win them the gold IMO. I see a Canada vs. USA final but I'm wrong a lot...

Looks like it is confirmed that Parsons gets the start.

Mike Morreale @mikemorrealeNHL
It will be Tyler Parsons vs Ilya Samsonov this afternoon when USA faces RUS in WJC semi.

Interesting comments by the Canada Coach. Could come back to bite him by motivating the Swedes.

Meh, not really bulletin board material in my opinion, just a little gamesmanship by the Canadian coach and I like it.

Sweden hasn't faced the same competition Canada has in the tournament so I hope that helps. I think we might see a Canada v Russia final but that is some homerism probably.

If that doesn't motivate the Swedes nothing will. With the way Canada is playing I wouldn't want to give them any more encouragement.

Disagree. If playing Canada for a chance at a medal doesn't motivate the Swedes, nothing will.

"Bulletin board material" is vastly overrated when it comes to games that actually matter. Dog days of the NHL schedule? Yeah, something might pull you out of the doldrums. Medal round stuff, playing for your country? If you aren't already amped, this is pretty unlikely to get you there.

If anything, it might get in their heads if Canada has a strong start.

I hope Kylington has a multi-point game in a 4-2 Canada win today.

Wonder what Kaprizov's shot percentage is in this tournament He is pretty much carrying Russia's scoring by himself

First period was great. keller and kaprizov with the goals. Fox is calm and collected, Parsons was good. Didn't notice Karnaukhov much.

8th goal of the tourney and a 5th round pick of the Wild - That's certainly digging deep for a gem.

Karnaukhov's cycle work helps set up a Guryanov goal. Parsons probably wants that rebound back.

Guryanov scores on a rebound after a good shift by he and Karnaukhov.

2-1 Russia.
