You start.
We had way more home games at the beginning of the year when we weren't winning hockey games anywhere, and had more games on the road when we started to remember how to play hockey.

Clearly the coach is terrible at line matching. Only possible explanation

Haha, not sure why everyone's looking beyond the home/away distribution. October: 8 home, 5 away - November: 5 home, 11 away.
We couldn't play hockey to start the year, now we're playing good hockey. If the home/away splits for October and November were reversed we'd be asking why we can't win on the road and what needs to change. Pretty simple.

Someone brought up a tweet recently about how bad our special teams are at home.
I believe it was something like 0-23 on the PP in the games the Flames were within one goal in the last 90 seconds of the game. The Flames lost six of those games....

I may be in the minority here but IMHO it has something to do with the quality of ice at the dome. Gulutzan clearly wants to have a puck possession team and this is hard to achieve when players don't know what to expect from the puck.
Sure, we've had a few bad games on the road as well.
But every time I watch our road game I see better, more confident team - less turnovers, more accurate passes etc.

8 of those 10 came in the first 30 days of the season, when the defense and Elliott were playing like ass.
Once this current road-trip is over, 6 of the next 8 are at home. I don't know that there's much to discuss until we get through those 6 games.

IIRC it was Haynes that tweeted that in all but one home loss, we lost the special teams battle and were within a goal with 90 seconds left. So it comes down to putrid special teams at home.

It really does come down to an abundance of home games in October and an abundance of away games in November. They were two different teams.

Don Cherry mentioned this last night. It should turn around though, especially once we get Johnny hockeyz back

I feel the worst for Elliott in this, he got thrown under the bus so badly. Give Mcdavid breakaway after breakaway in the first 2 games... good jorb Flames.

I have set up a spreadsheet and run several different scenarios and I fully agree with this statement.
I also noted that their home record would look better than their road record if they won less games on the road.
winning some games at home would help change this

Special teams are what is killing this team on the road and at home. If the Flames had a middle of the pack PP/PK with Johnson's tending, they would be in a playoff spot IMO.
I bet a good 6-8 losses can be attributed to dismal PP/PK.
