Default Canada releases WJC selection camp roster (Dube named)

http://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/Tea...ers?teamid=128

final roster expected by Dec 19. Heavy on the QMJHL players this year

didn't expect Phillips to make it as he didn't play in the summer camp or the Canada/Russia series

the state of other Flames prospects:

USA
Tkachuk - not looking like the Flames will release him
Fox - lot of people project him to be on the team and likely a pp qb for USA
Parsons - should be penciled in as starter or at least in the conversation for starter

Sweden
Kylington - would think he is a lock, but after getting snubbed last year and turning down the invite to go last summer's Swedish camp to "focus on his pro career" who knows if there is something going on behind the scenes with the Swedish hockey federation
Lindstrom - doesn't appear to be on the radar... maybe next year
Andersson - too old for this year's tournament

Finland
Tuulola - likely will get a bottom 6 role this year and possibly greater role next year (if he stays healthy knock on wood)

Russia
Karnaukhov - is on the radar for Russia. played in the Canada/Russia series. Turned down the Belarus national team last season (Belarus was relegated last year)

Who is coaching this year? Shows how much attention I pay to the World Jrs...

Donskov was hired by Vegas over the summer, director of hockey ops. The other two are junior coaches.

Ducharme was the coach of the high powered (Mackinnon, Drouin, Ehlers, etc) Halifax Mooseheads that won the 2013 Memorial cup. He was Canada WJC assistant coach last year. Currently the head coach and GM of Drummondville.

Knoblauch is Erie Otters head coach or more commonly known as Connor McDavid's major junior coach.

Donskov has been an assistant coach for London and Ottawa, last few years he has been doing video and analytics for Hockey Canada. Just recently hired as director of hockey ops for Las Vegas.

Hard to believe Kylington is still eligible.

It seems like he's been around forever, but he'll be 19 until late May(!).

Are McDavid and Eichel still eligible having played a full NHL season?

It is based strictly on age. Eichel is already 20 and thus ineligible. McDavid doesn't turn 20 til next year and thus is technically eligible.

Little surprised Dube made the roster considering he's been injured most of the season. He's been back about 2 weeks. Obviously they think pretty highly of him. Hope he does well and forces his way on the team. Always a better tournament when we can cheer on a flames prospect as well.

I know it's off topic but I would love for the flames I somehow find a way to get Gauthier. Man he looks like exactly the player the Flames need. I wonder if Carolina would trade him...

Personally as much as Edmonton is the bane of my existence I still think it'd be absolutely hilarious if they released the NHL leading scorer to the World Jr tournament but maybe that's just me.

Goodnight world. We win.

Did you watch the World Cup? He was thoroughly underwhelming.

And beating up on Children? Yeah, that sounds like the Oilers' style.
