Default Worst Moment As A Flames Fan

I was talking with someone the other day about life as Flames fan and how for me, Bure's goal in double OT in '94 was my personal worst moment. Up 3-1 in the series and they choked big time. I was 14 at the time and almost cried. Horrible moment for me.

Looking back, that was really the end of an era, as MacInnis and Vernon were gone after the season, Otto and Nieuwendyk followed the year after, and they brought in those fugly new uni's with the multicolored Flaming C on a pedestal. I'm just curious what everyone else's worst Flames moments are.

Always thought Bure was offside or it was at least a two-line pass

Not a big fan of Theo now but when he was traded I was devastated. That's probably not the worst moment in the overall picture but it was definitely the lowest feeling moment as a Flames fan.

Game 7 against the Ducks in 2006. To drop a turd like that on home ice in the most important game of the season was unforgivable. Don't think I'll ever get over that one. They didn't even show up.

In 04 I never expected them to go that far so I was just happy to still be cheering them on in June. Still sucked though

Call back of Doug Gilmour's goal against LA, year after we won the cup. Referee was Dennis Morel...that in itself speaks for itself.

Losing game 6 in 2004 was tough but it wasn't over.

Losing Game 7 was just an empty feeling. To live and die with the team for 2 months was a great ride, but to come up short was the worst. Even though now I look back with great fondness.

Didn't LA eventually win that one when a goal went in off someone's glove and they counted it? Or was that the Gilmour goal? (I missed that game for some reason.)

There's been a few. Game 7 in '04 (in hindsight the no goal was a worse event but at the time I thought Calgary would win game 7 and they just were never really in it).

The puck floating over a prone Vernon against LA in 90. Along with the no goal call by Morel.

2004 Game 6 and 7 of the finals. No question.

Jarome trade hurt because it was the end of an era. Theo as well but times were different then.

1. Losing in game 6 OT. Blatant StLouis trip to set up the winner. Seemed destined for the cinderalla story to be completed on a Saturday night at home.

2. That blocker save on Leopold with a few mins left in game 7. For a split second I thought we'd pulled off a miracle and sent the game to OT.

Any other horrible memories in my time as a fan are a distant 3rd.

There's been plenty but it has to be losing to Tampa in 2004. That was such a magical run after so many years of futility. Such a great character team and with legends like Iggy and Kipper playing at their best. To get that close and not win it was tough.

Leaving the dome and seeing Iginla traded to Boston then it's changed. It was so unceremonious and poorly handled it was like a gut punch.

The Ryan Oreilly thing sucked pretty bad. I even defended Feaster a lot and still think that it was blown way out of proportion, especially for something that never actually happened. It was the only time I was ever embarrassed about being a Flames fan. For a moment I actually knew what it was like to be an Oilers fan. Except in my case it only lasted a few days, not 10 years.

This is exactly mine (I was also 14). I lived in a duplex with Canucks fans next door. They banged on the walls and yelled and cheered and I cried real human tears.
