Taking a while to get to 5000

Versteeg on the top line? He worked well on Bennett's left side so there could be something to this. Will be interesting to watch.
Don't have the stats in front of me but I believe Columbus is one of those buildings the Flames don't have a winning record in. Big challenge tonight.

God is interesting ever waning around these parts.
Go Flames, but honestly the special teams need to get better simply put. The coach with the Euro hair can platitude us all day long, but with guys like Gio, Hamilton, Mony, Frolik, Brouwer, Bennett, the powerplay is utterly unacceptable.
I still watch and root for them, but man I need to see some improvement.

This should go well

Columbus is a weird team. They could lay an egg or blow us out.

20 games of Chiasson is enough.... He needs to disappear and give Shinkaruk more time to see if he can fit in... Or someone else on the farm

flames lose special teams battle naturally. Jackets are a hard working, high scoring team, with killer PP.
I expect the flames to lose by 3 goals or more. I'll guess a 5-2 loss.

A team with a 40% powerplay on home ice against a team that couldn't kill a penalty if they were Liam Neeson trying to save his kidnapped dollar.
Oh this should be much watch TV.
Sure we'll probably keep up on 5v5. but the first time we take a penalty

Good to see the starter back in net. Tkachuk will get a couple and Hamilton gets one. Close loss, 4-3 after giving up multiple PP goals. Stupid special teams *shakes fist*

This team is slumping bad. Nearly every player having career lows so far save Frolik.

I don't get what is wrong with using Frolik on the PP. Why split up your best line when you have a man advantage?

Good grief, that's horrific.
Wouldn't it be nice...
PP1:
Backlund - Monahan - Tkachuk
Hamilton - Giordano
Backlund gets utilized as the set-up man. Tkachuk is used for the off-wing one-timer, and Hamilton/Gio let the puck loose from the point while Monahan battles out front.
PP2:
Frolik - Bennett - Brouwer
Kulak - Wideman
This units strategy is simply get the puck to the point and crash the net.

remember going into the playoffs that one keenan year, the flames just couldn't buy a PP goal and Keenan basically stopped practicing the PP altogether? Seemed stupid then, but perhaps it's something just that stupid that pulls this craptastic PP outta this mess.

Not that I love the pp units, but it seems pretty clear that they are looking for some net presence/corner work with the use of Brouwer and Ferland. Frolik doesn't totally fit the bill in that regard.
