Versteeg leaves practice early.
Quote:
After #Flames RW Kris Versteeg's early exit from practice today, my guess is there's a forward en route from AHL Stockton to Boston.

For those asking, not sure if Versteeg's early exit is related to previous groin injury, related to collision with Brouwer or something new.

Dang Flames looked good with him back in the lineup too.

That's unfortunate... 2nd star last game and well deserved for his offensive play alone.
Versteeg has had a couple seasons where he'll miss a few games here and there throughout the season due to lingering injuries but still remain consistent while in the lineup. This is looking like another one of those seasons.

would rather leave Jankowski in Stockton for the full season regardless of what goes on in Calgary.

My guess would be Pribyl. Sounds like the type of player we need right now and by all accounts is playing well.

Sad because he's looked good here, especially for the price. But him being in and out of the lineup is somethiong we should expect. Remember, he tried to go play in Europe but the team he signed with couldn't get insurance coverage for him because of his re-occurring injuries

Too bad. I didn't think much of his start but have to acknowledge he has been better of late. This team needs him.

Hope he can play. His playmaking ability is something this team sorely needed without Gaudreau.

Green text?
He's been ok. I'm not in the "get him resigned!" crowd and I think you may be the only one.
You are correct about needing more skilled players but I think they're better options going forward.

Wouldn't be against considering a re-sign but have to wait and see. If he's getting injured once in a while, okay, cheap skilled extra player to have is all good. But if he ends up missed more games than he plays, pass

That's probably why he's bounced around the league in his career to this point.

Huska was on the fan the other day and mentioned Pribyl has had a difficult time adjusting to the speed of the game in NA and has been vocal about the difference in the amount of time guys have to make a decision/move the puck. Huska then went on to mention that things are starting to slow down a bit for him which has coincided with his stronger play of late. I'm guessing they're gonna take it slow with him as well in terms of call-ups and it may be a while before we see him (if at all this year) tho what do I know.

The insurance coverage was denied not because of any current injuries, but rather due to surgery he had previously. He has missed time every year, and I am guessing the "I haven't missed a game in 4 years" was probably in reference regarding not having missed any games due to that specific injury since the surgery.

Jason Gregor: Everyone thought that you were playing in Europe, and then the contract was void. What happened?
Kris Versteeg: It’s hard to explain unless you understand the insurance issue, but basically there is illness coverage and there is injury coverage and I had a previous surgery a while ago and so they see potential injury there so they consider it not a full insurance coverage. So I was supposed to assume the risk and we talked about it, and I didn’t want to assume the risk if something happened. And then we just moved on. I came to camp one hundred percent healthy, I never missed a game in four years and it’s just the way that it is. No hard feelings, it is business. I think they got stung a couple of times last year with that and we just moved on from it. I’m excited now to come back and hopefully this is a blessing in disguise for me.

I don't want any of our first year rookies in the A to be called up this early in the season. They are playing well, developing, let them develop.
Were a last place team right now or close to it, no guy we call up is gonna save the season. 60 games in though sure call these guys up if needed or earned.
Guys like Shink Vey Hathaway Wotherspoon are guys with NHL experience that will not be hindered by a call up.
Never the less as a fan I want to see the young guys who are playing well a chance sooner than later. I just don't want to rush these guys.
