Default Linden Vey assigned to Stockton Heat

Per the team. Likely means Versteeg is back from injury.

Sure hope the PP doesn't suffer now that Vey is gone.

Gifting Vey and Chaisson with PP time really tells you this team has moved on from the "Always earned, never given" days.

Wouldn't say Chiasson should be assigned to Stockton but he is definitely being overused.

He would be perfectly fine as a third liner.

Third line is where he has been and even that's been overusing him

I'm going to miss Vey chasing the puck and falling down. He is so good at that aspect of the game.

Well he did spend the first 10 games on the top line plus tons of pp time.

Almost makes me pine for the days of Blake Comeau going for a nice skate around the net, followed by a pillow soft wrist shot to the goalie's midsection.

Who would you say has been earning that PP time then?

How about Frolik? The guy never gets PP time and has been a hell of a player for us this year

You know our PP is in deep trouble when we used Vey on the first PP unit during the hawks game.

I think that's a pretty good answer. One of the only acceptable ones tbh.

I agree with this. Chiasson on the 4th line doesn't bother me nearly as much as Chiasson on the 1st line and the PP.

I'm hoping they demote Bouma. Hathaway does his job better for a fraction of the cost.

I would also say Ferland, and all three of Giordano, Hamilton and Wideman have had reduced time because of silly 4 forward configurations that left all 3 of our defensemen with good point shots on the bench for most (or all) of the PP.

edit: I guess if the point is 'earning' time on the PP, then you could argue that Gio, Hamilton and Wideman haven't earned it because in too many games they've been sub-par, but still, they should be out there because they have the best point shots on the team. They 'earned' PP time by having a skill that others on the team can't replicate.

It is pretty insane that a team with Giordano, Brodie, Hamilton, and Wideman needs to ever use 4 forwards on the powerplay.

It would be a nice story for Linden Vey to become an NHL regular but I honestly wouldn't be shocked if he never played another game in the NHL.

My goodness. Chiasson started this season so decently. His first 5 or 6 games he looked pretty good as a 4th liner.

Then he got moved to the 1st line and he's been such a handicap ever since then.

What a lame duck liability.

Nobody else is working, so why not try them? If anything, the fact that Vey was sent down indicates the opposite - he failed to earn his place in Calgary, so next man on the list gets their chance.

Hmmm...I came into this thread hoping that Linden Vey was assigned to 'The Sun.'

No dice.
