Who is Calgary's best setup man?
With Guadreau now out, I was interested in knowing who is going to be the player that can setup other players for their shots. Calgary has lots of muckers and shooters. We used to have Hudler who I thought was a good setup guy. I'm at a loss to think of who would be able to take on that role?
I'm hoping Backlund, but his creativity doesn't jump out at me.

Without a doubt, it's Backlund.

Bennett has shown signs that he could fit that role.
I think Tkachuk is also a pretty decent set-up man. He's made some nice looking plays to pull the puck from behind the net into the slot.
Right now though, I think you're right in saying Backlund.

I can't think of one forward that has an awesome shot. Most of our team just has average shots.

I think Calgary has quite a few good shooters, especially when they hit the net. LOL

Brodie is obviously a great passer. Forwards? Ferland can make a good pass. Backlund can pass. Frolik can pass. Brouwer makes sensible passes.

Watching highlights of Stockton I'd say it's Mark Jankowski although he's not up with the Flames yet. Has great vision and hands. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with the Flames this year.

Apart from Johnny, I'd say the best passer is Gio. Made some nice dishes last night too.

Even though he doesn't have the experience yet, in terms of skill and vision I think our best playmaker is Matt Tkachuk. He's particularly great at in-tight passing. Executes a lot of give-and-gos. Excellent at passing from behind the net to the front of the net. Excellent at passing from the side of the net to the front of the net. Excellent at cross crease passing

Gio possibly Versteeg, we have too many players shot first, hence why Jonny stands out plus the boy can needle that puck wherever he wants it. we have a lack of playmakers hence why Hudler when he played with , both Money and Gaudrea benefited. that is what that line is lacking now instead of putting it all on Gaudreau. Money is a sniper, doesn't create much. Been impressed with Stajan this year. We need someone like Oates or Thornton. this team has no creativity without Gaudreau

Who should be and who is this year are sadly different answers. Gio and Backlund seem to be the best setup guys this season.

Without a doubt it's Tkachuk. He's made some really nice passes this season that his line mates haven't been able to capitalize on.
He's made quite a few to Backlund which many players couldn't make.
I think his playmaking ability is really underrated.

Ferland, Tkachuk, Bennett, Jankowski, Monahan all have all very good passing ability. Of the bunch, I think Ferland is most able to actually drive indivually play right now as the other four are still developing.
