Default Flames vs. Senators, 7:00 PM, Sportsnet Flames, Fan 960

Back home after a short and successful road trip, it's back to the 'Dome.

(from http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hock...ttawa-senators)

How They Match Up
Forwards: Flames
Will be motivated to play at the Dome.
Defence: Senators
Surrendered three shots in the third period against the Canucks Tuesday.
Goaltending: Flames
Brian Elliott has found his groove.
Power Play: Flames
All of a sudden, Ottawa has the worst PP in the NHL.
Penalty Kill: Flames
An area they’re trying to clean up, especially at home.
Intangibles: Senators
A relaxed schedule (three games in seven nights) is good on the body.
Overall: Flames
Looked like world beaters against the Blues.

Projected lines (both from www.dailyfaceoff.com)

Flames

Gaudreau-Monahan-chiasson
Versteeg-Bennett-Brouwer
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Ferland-Stajan-Bouma

Giordano-Wideman
Brodie-Engelland
Jokipakka-Hamilton

Elliott

Senators

Hoffman-Turris-Stone
Smith-Brassard-Ryan
Dzingel-Pageau-Pyatt
Puempel-Kelly-Neil

Methot-Karlsson
Phaneuf-Ceci
Borowiecki-Wideman

Hammond

And finally, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, but it makes puppets homicidal - Heeeeeeeeeeere's MINI-ME!!!!!:

Spoiler!

Go Flames

4-2 win for the flames. JG, Gio, Backs and Ferland score for us. Elliott continues his awesome play and Jokipickle solidifies his spot on the bottom pair with Hamilton.

I adapted this from a poem from the book Pop Sonnets:

A way within the southern mountain lands,
there lives a boy of prominent repute;
and though he is unschool’d, he’s bless’d with hands
unparalleled in skill to pass and shoot.

He’d glide across the ice, opponents freeze,
They cower and their coaches disapprove.
Oft passing players, matching them with ease
As others marvell’d at his joyous moves.

His father told him that his talents rare
would bring him to a life of wealth and fame;
‘twould let him lead a band of millionaires
to play beneath marquees that bear his name.

The criers o’er the land shall thus recite:
“Come hear the songs of John Gaudreau tonight!”

I haven't watched the last two Flames games, and they have won.

My girl has practice in Rocky tonight.

I predict a win.

Anderson back in Ottawa for a personal matter, no timetable on return. Here's hoping things turn out ok for him, whatever the reasons.

Driedger called up for backup tonight and forseeable future - too bad he doesn't get to play back in the Dome again... or does he tonight?

Bennett was on 960 this AM. Did anyone catch what he said? I literally heard him say bye.

He was giving a signed jersey to one of the guys.

Said the team picked up the new system for the last couple games and it's a really easy system that seems to work. He didn't think it would be a system that scores many goals, but they seem to go in the net.

He wouldn't say which players on the team are cheap. Warrener said when he was on the team it was Giordano but Bennett says now Gio probably spends the most money.

He was only on for a couple minutes.

Hamburglar has been awful (mostly preseason but one loss on the year so far). Stunk last year too. And the Sens have an unproven backup behind him. Pucks on net. All of the pucks.

A major element of the system seems to be our D standing up at our own blueline with active sticks. They seem to get it now. It gave the Hawks fits.

Johnny breaks out in a big way, 2 goals, 2 assists, +5, first star. Flames win 6-1.

Interesting having Tkachuk on Backlunds line. A lot of D zone starts, but could help develop his defensive skills.

Bennett stays hot with a multi point game. Hamilton uses his body again. Brodie skates....?
