Well, they SHOULD overturn that law...but they can't now. Not because of this.

Sheesh these fools are just making it up as they go along.

It seems as though they stumbled onto some revolutionary negotiation tactic and they are now applying it to everything.

Newsflash To Lunatics: It doesn't work.

But they should take back that law in France.

Well, it did work though.

The Phillipines withdrew their troops.

All it takes is one capitulation and the ball may never stop rolling.

I wonder if they would kidnap any Turks to get the same law repealed in Turkey. Probably not, because it is a Muslim country (that doesn't like headscarves).

It's a stupid law. If those journalists were my son or father and they die over this, then I would feel my country really let me down.
On the other hand, terrorists in the Middle East should not be allowed to dictate policies in other countries.
Tough decision but I really don't want to see these individuals have their heads cut off over something like this.

I actually meant to put that in my post -- that it worked once and that's why they think they stumbled on to something great but I think that was a one time deal.

On a related note -- it seems everytime something happens there is some new group taking responsibility. The Black Banners Iraqi Freedom Mehda Militia Muslim Army Martyrs Najaf Nihilists take responsibility for the latest kidnapping/uprising/bombing/ambush/roadside bomb. Sorta strange.

How ironic.

Unlike in Canada, these terrorists are the only politicians who can back their words with consequence and force.

According to Al-Jazeera, the kidnappers are demanding that the French government overturn a recently passed law that bans Muslim students from wearing headscarves in French public schools.

They must value the seperation of Church and State over Freedom of Religion. I wonder if this means adult men can't wear them to work, if they work for the government.

I agree that its not the most prudent law to pass, to France does have the right to pass it. And these terrorists, to ask that it be repealed are trying to infringe on another country's sovereignty.
