dress pants...for short guys
I thought I would reach out to the population of Calgarypuck and sell yo.....just kidding.
I am short, and have difficulty finding dress pants that don't need to be shortened. It seems the shortest length is often 30 and I am lucky to find a 29...which is still a little long.
for those of us who are vertically challenged....where do you buy dress pants (not talking tuxedo but office casual)?

Not sure about the height issue, but Brooks Brothers includes tailoring for their pants everytime I have bought any.
Just make sure you bring the shoes you will actually be wearing so they get the proper length.

I'm pretty short and have yet to find dress pants that don't need to be hemmed. Actually, I think most dress pants are intentionally longer than usual and its just an expectation that they will be hemmed.
Either way, just factor in the cost of hemming the pants and roll with it. You'll have much more success that way.

Virtually all dress pants are going to be made so that they are way too long. You can't extend pants, but you can always shorten them.
Most suit pants are straight through the leg, so there is no issue shortening them.
Other "dress" pants like khakis will taper, so those may look funny after shortening. Those you can find in a 30'' inseam in major brands.

I have the same problem, I'm not actually short but I have short legs. For more casual pants, Marks has pants and jeans with a 28" inseam (rarely seem to have them in store these days but once you find a style that fits you can order online). For more formal dress pants I think as others have said you just have to get them hemmed.

I think just getting super jacked in the upper body is the way short guys get around finding pants that fit. This strategy provides two benefits 1) you can just wear gym shorts everywhere, thereby avoiding the discussed pants issue and 2) you get to say bro all the time.

Good point. The states or online will generally have better selection than in store in Canada. Canada generally has lower sales volumes so stores will only stock the longer pants, which can be shortened.

You know, Kybosh, when I read your post, I instantly thought of this one particular guy who is exactly guilty of what you are describing.
The man has a Julius Caesar haircut, bleached blonde hair, a massive upper body, routinely wears weird work-out gear, and has the spindly legs of a 9 year old.

Fellow vertically challenged person, mostly because of my stubby legs. My "trick" is I only look at the width and don't even bother with the length, I know I'll need them hemmed anyway.
I don't know how your build is, but I'm also on the slim side and I've found RW&Co dress clothes are great for sufferers like us. Maybe check it out, their dress clothes are so underrated. My go-to lately

It depends on your budget.
If its low, then I think your best bet is to find some economical pants and get them hemmed.
If its medium to high, keep your eyes open for Brooks Brothers or Harry Rosen sales. Tailoring is usually free. That way you don't just get a hem, but an overall proper fit.
I just got something in the mail from Brooks Brothers that says 25% off in early November here. Forget the actual date.
