Default Airport longterm parking

Which is the better choice, the economy lot or park n' jet (YYC)? Both seem to be about the same price for 2 weeks. Which is more secure?

Do you want to walk in the cold for 5 minutes or wait for a shuttle? Both are fenced with access from the road

Park n' jet is probably more secure, it's a fenced in/secured lot, but you have to take a shuttle there. Economy lot is a short walk so faster to get to if you have minimal luggage, but is maybe less secure (I've never had problems there though). The economy lot also seems to fill up fairly often.

It's been awhile since I've used the econo lot, but I don't remember it being fully fenced. Maybe on the outer side? In general, I would say park and jet is more secure, simply because the shuttles are always driving around, so there are roving eyes in the parking lot, whereas the econo lot you just park your car and leave. However, I read something a few years back about park and jet staff breaking into cars and getting addresses off ID (don't leave your registration in your car!) and then going and breaking into houses where they knew people were away.

If I was to choose now, I would go with park and jet, because that incident was quite awhile ago.

Another option, since it's two weeks worth of parking, is to take a cab up there instead and keep the car at home? Or, rent a car the day before you leave, close to where you live (especially on a weekend when rates are super cheap) and drive it up there and drop it off.

Have to find your way back (cab), but either way is likely more convenient and would probably be cheaper than the $160+ for econo parking for 2 weeks.

It's sounds cheap but if I'm out of town for a week+ I park at Deerfoot mall and take a $10.00 cab fare up the back road to the airport. I suppose they have a right to tow if deemed abandoned but I park on the edge of Walmart and the Malls parking stalls and haven't had a problem in about 10 years. best part is you get free 24hr security

I know a couple of other people who do this as well.

Park2Go dinged two doors the last time we used them. Of course we got in a midnight and didn't see them until we got home.

If you're going for 2 weeks a cab might be cheaper. We're in McKenzie Towne and it ended up being $130 there and back for cabs. Park2Go is $125 if you book on the web. It's not worth the $5 to have to wait for the shuttle. Especially if there's a large line waiting.

We did this with 2 kids and lots of luggage. No problem.

I'm just not a big fan of the taxi driver knowing my entire family is going away for a while with massive luggage.

Last summer for the first time I tried econ parking instead of the long term parkade. Saved $50 for the week but ended up with a $7000 hail damage bill. Stupid!

Part of me wants to say that you are quite paranoid but then I don't post vacation or 'look at us on the plane!' photos on facebook until i'm back in town for the same reasons. lol

I always order the cab to the neighbors house.

We've never had a problem with Park2go, and for me $5 is well worth the convenience of driving our own car to/from the airport and not having to deal with booking a cab or worrying about making a flight. Plus the option of stopping for food on the way home. Never had a problem with the shuttles.

Yup, I've had that happen from Park2Go as well (or maybe Park&Jet?). They both park vehicles insanely close together.

2 weeks or more I usually cab, otherwise I've always used economy long term.
