Huh? He's played 803 games in the NHL.

With Boston the previous 5 seasons. He famously broke his leg blocking a shot during the Bruins run to the finals in 2013.

eh i think it's pretty interesting that the son of the NHL's director of hockey operations fails to report.

Certainly can understand it when star players who made a ton are at the end of their rope and decide to retire then report to the AHL while making significantly less than they were use to.

But Campbell, as it stands now, is giving up a $1,300,000.00 salary. Not that he hasn't made a ton (approximately 10M worth of NHL contracts), but this is very likely his last chance to make this type of dough and I think there's a lot worse situations than playing in Cleveland.

Maybe we wants an outright release so he can go to the KHL or something. Would CBJ have grounds to terminate his contract?

No Wideman was required to hand over his phone records to the NHL as part of the appeal process.

No player shared Wideman's text.

Also, wasn't the initial report that it was a text sent to Campbell proven to be false?

I recall one of the reporters stating that it was sent to one of the Flames, although no name was given.

Greg Campbell and Wideman definitely exchanged texts:

and was not refuted by the text that Wideman sent to Greg Campbell, son of Colin
Campbell, after the incident, in which Wideman, Campbell and others exchanged messages about how
the referees’ Union was stirring up the matter.
