Auston Matthews debuts with 4 goals in 2 periods
Feel like this deserves it's own thread. Incredible! I mean Ottawa's defence and zone play is terrible but still this is something I'll never forget.
Does he get 5?!

Yes, it is. There have been a very few players who managed a hat trick in their debut game. He's the first to pot four (and counting, with a period left to go).
Already in the record books, a nice start to your NHL career.

Unreal. I would love to know if this is a record. It has to be a modern day post-expansion record I would think.
When I first saw that on the box score I thought NHL.com was glitching.

Ugh. First McDavid now Mathews. Why do the teams I hate most get the shiniest new toys.... it's tough as a flames fan, a team with decent young pieces itself.
Well at least it's even worse for canuck fans.
