Sweet, great to see Shinkaruk given another chance on the top line. Hopefully they can build some chemistry while waiting for Gaudreau to sign.

Also, another game with Higgins skating with Backlund and Frolik. It looks like they're seriously considering Higgins for that shut down role.

Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer

I like the sound of that line.

I don't see Shinkaruk skating with a more or less inactive Monahan as him getting a look at the top line. That says "next round of cuts" to me.

I always sort of figured Shinkaruk was going to do most of the season in Stockton.

High on the list of callups, but still a callup.

Maybe the Flames can toss a 7th to the Sens for Sieloff. He'll make sure Monahan for sure doesn't play this pre-season.

Too soon?

That seems like more of a reach then my implication. Does that mean Chiasson, Hamilton and Bouma are gone too? Because according to the list they are the 5th line.

It's not like they're using starting line combinations right now. Vey isn't making the team, nor is Korpikoski and unlikely Higgins will either.

If Shinkaruk and Monahan are looking good in drills, it makes sense that they'd get some game action together.

My prediction is we see Shinkaruk on a line with Monahan on Thursday.

Maybe I'm out of the loop by why is Pat Steiberg McLovin?

2 successful AHL seasons under his belt and he ended last year with 7 games in the NHL alongside Monahan and Gaudreau where he had some great offensive flashes.

I really don't get why people ignore Shinkaruk as a player. Even during the Summer next to nobody had penciled Shinkaruk into the starting line-up.

By all accounts he looks NHL ready to me. Size isn't an issue, he plays with intensity, and during the preseason he's given his linemates some great looks that they couldn't capitalize on.

He looks just like him. Or did a couple years ago.

I found myself weirdly disappointed that he started to mature into a less childish looking man. McLovin for McLife.

I'd like to see Stajan played on the wing because he's too slow to handle centre duties anymore.

He's also likely going to see a lot of the press box as the extra forward as the regular season goes on with the way he's going.

Because he has to be in the Top 6 and I dont see who he displaces.

Are you kidding me? The same spot he was playing on the top line is still wide open.

Chiasson hasn't looked very good. Ferland and Hamilton are really the only other two players left who makes sense in that spot.
