Hall Rental
Anyone have any experience in rentings halls? Trying to get one organized for a party of around 100-150 people in mid-late October.
I know it'll be tough but we're hoping for some where that is as "hands off" as possible. We basically just want a place where we can invite all of our friends, do our own thing, provide our own booze, food (snacks and pizza and stuff, not a sit down dinner) and music, set up tables for beer pong and flip cup and then have someone clean up for us (for a fee of course). Also a place that lets us go right until 2.
Most places have rules that basically won't let us serve our own booze ourselves (well this is an Alberta wide thing but hoping for a place that might not be so strict, we don't want to sell the booze) or set up tables for games. Lots won't do own food and lots have a 1 am curfew.
So yeah, sort of a shot in the dark here but hoping CP pulls through as always.

If alcohol is served, it is the responsibility of the Rentee to secure an AGLC Liquor License and a Party Alcohol Liability insurance. A copy of each must be provided to the Arbour Lake Residents Association a minimum of seven days prior to the rental. Only commercially produced alcohol can be served during any event, and an original receipt for the purchased liquor must be attached to the liquor license. Once a liquor license is secured, the Rentee must secure insurance coverage for the event. A copy of this insurance must be provided to the Arbour Lake Residents Association seven days prior to the event. If the Liquor License and the insurance coverage are not provided seven days prior to your rental, your rental will be cancelled and you will NOT be refunded.

This is the part that complicates things.
Supervision
The licensee must provide a minimum of one (1) adult supervisor for every 50 patrons in attendance. In addition, there must be at least one (1) adult supervisor at each entrance and exit. The ratio at food fairs, is one (1) supervisor for every 200 patrons in attendance.

That's the regulation. You could just call the thing a wedding and ensure that someones Halloween costume is a bride or a groom and no liquor inspector would ever show.

There are too many liabilities for halls these days to give you that much free reign. Most community associations won't let you stay past curfew because you're near the homes of people in the community.
Also, none that I've found will clean up after you.

I've rented halls for parties before lots of times. We just grabbed a liquor license at the liquor store and were good to go. Nobody ever showed up to inspect anything. They supply the tables and chairs, just buy a couple rolls of plastic tablecloth at the wholesale club. The wholesale club just off 32Ave and Barlow NE has all that sort of thing. You have to clean the hall but you could always arrange for a cleaning service to do it the next day. Not sure about the 2am thing since we were always done by 11ish. You are in a community though and they probably won't want a huge drunken beer pong party.

No club is going to let them bring their own booze.
The bar is a big money maker.

Why not just do a house party?
Or are your friends a bunch of idiots who destroy things?

Our group has a bunch of birthdays in October so we want to combine them all into one big party. Unfortunately none of us have the room to fit all those people.

Airbnb. You can probably find a nice place with a pool table, maybe a ping pong table and possibly even a hot tub. It would be sweet! Send me an invite.
