I was sidetracked by that this morning on my commute in, around 7:30 am. Plenty of flashing lights, police and fire on 10th. Haven't heard anything else either.

I guess the cops have some sort of specialized tactical unit to grab a guy like that?
Ignoring the inevitable beat down from lady-justice, the little kid in me finds it hard to not think something like this would be alot of fun. Real life GTA stuff.

They may have put him in an ambulance instead of a cop car. Sounds like it's all over now.

Sounds like this was the crane at the 6th & 10th condo site, the Brad Lamb project that is insanely behind schedule. Probably a buyer that was fed up waiting and wanted to see their view...

The tactical unit have their own high angle rescue team too. It looks like in this case, it was a joint effort.

I'm trying to figure out what the guy's end game was - likely just drunk and doing something stupid.
Climbing a crane is about as "getting yourself cornered with nowhere to go" as you can be.

I had heard that the guy was suicidal, but have no evidence to back that up with other than hearsay.

I think the articles talk about him locking himself in the cab, which doesn't seem to support suicide attempt. In the entire crane, the cab is about the only place where you aren't thinking "One misstep might kill me" - The crane is the safest place to be.
