This upcoming weekend is when Soundsaround has their big sale, and, the other electronics retailers have since matched with their own deals, including a Calgary-only Futureshop deal.

Its not for everyone and yes, I know, some of these places are shady in thier practices this weekend and 51 weekends of the other year etc etc so keep the comments to yourself, but there are deals to be had if you're looking for something specific, as well as either get up early or get lucky wherever you go.

Flyers now come out tomorrow in the paper, as to not tip the other retailers of what's going on sale (not that it matters, places don't price match with each other on a sale like this anyway).

Since a buddy has a VIP pass to the Soundsaround thing, just trying to plan tomorrow aft early in case there is something there worth attempting to get.

I was at the Big 4 building earlier tonight for a CCMA reception, I looked downstairs and the setup is MASSIVE.

There is a way to avoid the lineup if you go through the Casino on the way to the Soundsurround sale. It's in another forum with "deals"

And wow, the Soundsurround owner used to live behind me. He had like two Ferrari's and a Lamborghini

Future Shop had a pretty good deal on a 53" Panasonic TV. There were only 10 per store so I got to the store by Sunridge this morning at about 7:15 and I was 10th in line. By 7:30 there was probably 20 or 25 people in line. Thank God I made it.

One deal I might go check out at Sounsaround was the HD receivers they have on sale with Shaw. I think they were about $199 or something after you get all the Shaw programming credits. If I have an HD capable TV I might as well take advantage of it.

Anyone know of any other deals on HD boxes?

HD (and regular Shaw) Boxes really never go on sale, so if you can get one, do it.
But, depending on when you get there it will take a bit of luck since there are only supposedly 300 of each.

Is there an online flyer I can get my hands on? I'm trying to find a new car CD player that I can plug my ipod into directly (I think they just came out??)

I am thinking I may hold off on the Hd box for a bit. After reading the other thread in the Flames forum about the number of games that will be broadcast in HD I am VERY dissapointed. The major reason I wanted to buy an HDTV was for watching hockey. I may hold off on buying the box until next year and they start broadcasting more games in HD.

no

HDTV
DCT6412 = $388 (also had PVR 120 gig)
You pay $548 and recieve $160 program credits

and the regular
DCT6200 = $128

edit: added PVR explanation

I bought one of those HD boxes last year. It was refurbished also but so far no problems with it so far. Of course theres a nasty delay sometimes when you change from one HD channel to another but thats more a shaw problem than a box problem. It's great! Didn't buy the PVR version though as i just download the shows i missed.

I didn't get a flyer in the paper. Is it tucked away in a section?

Theres definitely some great deals to be had - especially the Cameras, and AAA batteries - wow! Too bad they didnt have the batteries in the same hour, cause I wasnt gonna go back for that lol.

I just got back and picked up a Home tech on wall speaker system for the kitchen and washrooms.
(always wanted one but not for $2000+), priced 488 got for 375 cash! they do bargain trust me, just walk in cash on hand! But I suppose buying other stuff as well, helped my cause.

Panasonic Lumix 5MP with 2.5LCD - I didnt need another cam I have two already, but this one is too good to pass up and Ive always wanted to try a Panasonic, heard nothing but good things on the Lumix's. Panasonics are normally $600+ priced $388, got it for $300 cash! Thats a steal!

My buddy got the Polk Audio 300 watt 12 inch sub for $325!
