Default Dental decay rampant in Calgary

Dentist says cavities in kids on the rise 3 years after Calgary stopped adding fluoride to drinking water

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...says-1.2864413

"I hope that we'll have a chance down the road to have another discussion with the city about re-introducing it,” he said.

That could happen in the spring, when a study looking at Calgary's tooth decay rates is complete.

Shock to no one. I'm not sure why people rage about flouride in the water. Seems like another GMO/Vaccine thing to me.

Then add the fluoride to your own water, nobody is stopping you. Go ahead, I'll only rage about freedom of choice. Go nuts with however much fluoride you want, I won't stop you but will take issue when it's forced upon others.

Does anyone recall which councillors were in favour of removing fluoride, or who voted in favour?

That article is full of anecdotal evidence without a shred of actual information.

What a joke.

Assuming this is correct (https://storify.com/calgaryherald/co...from-calgary-w)

For removal of fluoride:
John Mar, Dale Hodges, Druh Farrell, Gian-Carlo Carra, Diane Colley-Urquhartr,
Andre Chabot, Peter Demong, Shane Keating, Jim Stevenson, Ray Jones

Against removal of fluoride:
Gale MacLeod, Richard Pootmans, Gord Lowe

Nenshi and Pincott were absent during the vote.

Fair enough - the article is limited on evidence.

I am interested to see the City can re-visit this.

Those of us with allergies to flouride in the water beg to differ about your conclusion.

Puking for an hour and feeling like someone poked your intestines with a hot iron because I drank water with fluoride or had juice mixed with water with fluoride isn't so much fun.

It's not an uncommon allergy either. Had this conversation with my dentist and he said that most people have some allergy to it in some form, with a few having one as fun as I do.

According to the Australian Dental Association (http://www.ada.org.au/oralhealth/fln/flfaqs.aspx) there is no such thing as an allergy to fluoride in water. They state that
Quote:
The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the Council of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology have both stated that "there is no evidence of allergy or intolerance to fluoride as used in the fluoridation of water supplies".

You can buy fluoride for yourself, then you can have as much as you want.

I can't find the answer - how common are flouride allergies? At what concentration?

I would like more electrolytes in the water.

And more yellow 5 for sh*ts and gigs.

If I'm mixing my own drinks they dont tend to involve water.
