Well this is it, the final day of competition

Haislan Garcia wrestles in the Men's 65kg Freestyle Tournament. I believe his first match is at 5:30.

The Men's Marathon begins at 6:30. Eric Gillis (22nd finisher in London) and Reid Coolsaet (27th finisher in London) race for Canada.

Also at 6:30 the Bronze Medal Match in the Men's Volleyball Tournament has Russia facing the United States.

At 7:30 the Bronze Medal Match in the Men's Handball Tournament begins between Poland and Germany.

The Group All Around Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics begins at 8:00.

At 8:30 Australia faces Spain in the Bronze Medal Game in Men's Basketball.

The Men's Cross Country Mountain Bike Competition begins at 9:30. Leandre Bouchard and the 2015 Pan Am Gold Medalist Raphael Gagne race for Canada.

The Gold Medal Match in the Men's Volleyball Tournament between Brazil and Italy is scheduled for 10:15.

At 11:00 the Men's Gold Medal Game in Handball begins between Denmark and France.

At 12:45 Serbia takes on the US in the Gold Medal Game of the Men's Basketball Tournament.

Go Canada Go!

CofR, as many have said already and I know you say it's no big deal but thank you for doing these everyday. It's definitely made following the Olympics for me more enjoyable. It's much appreciated and I hope you're back in 2018.

Last day of the Olympics. It's been an incredible 2 weeks for Canada. With Penny winning 4 medals as a 16 year old to De Grasse winning 3 medals on the track, 7pm has become must watch TV for me the past couple weeks.

All our athletes have been tremendous and I am really proud to be Canadian. It's weird because I'm not really an Olympics guy. I got into it in 2010 because it was in Canada but I can't remember watching any events in London or Sochi (outside of Hockey). To see our athletes do so well on the biggest stage and in the most popular events is really awesome.

I know we like to make fun of how we are the best country at getting Bronze or 4th place but as I tell my friends and family who say the same thing, the fact that a winter country of 35 million people can still place in the top 10 of overall medals is quite impressive and I'm proud of all our athletes.

I'm already thinking about going to Tokyo in 2020. With Penny and De Grasse in their prime, the swimming and track events should be really fun.

My vote is for Penny to be the flag bearer for the closing ceremonies. 16 years old and already has 4 medals. De Grasse can be the flag bearer for the opening ceremonies in 2020.

Come on, Serbia!

It would be AMAZING if we could take the gold. We showed in the group stage we could hang with the (a missed open three away from pushing them to OT), and this is one of the weakest Dream teams in recent time. Haven't impressed me that much.

Overall an up and down Olympics. While Oleksiak and de Grasse are the great stories and successes, we also had the typical half-dozen world champions/sure-things who fell flat. Best summer Olympics for Canada in a while, but I think we can do even better.

Happens every Olympics and is completely normal. In most events, there are typically 6 or 7 people or teams that have a legitimate shot at winning.

Someone will step up, but there's only room for one. Most won't.

And then there are the out-of-nowhere surprises (like Oleksiak) to add to the mix.

Winning Olympic gold is incredibly difficult because you only have one two-week window every four years in which you have to hit it out of the park with a personal best performance.

Again, someone will. But there is going to be a tremendous amount of heartbreak among the athletes - more heartbreak than elation.

And that is why Olympic medals are so special. Coming up big on that one day, under so much pressure, is a huge victory and accomplishment.

Also, being 4th best in the world at something is pretty awesome. People who think there is one winner and everyone else are losers, are flat out wrong. Dedicating your life to something, and becoming one of the very best in the world at it, is an incredible accomplishment that is one-in-a-million.

And it should be celebrated, not criticized.

Calling them losers (not speaking to you here) is short-sighted, immature, and, IMO, moronic.

heh the french CBC guys are interviewing with MacLean now.

Amazing how good the coverage is on CBC. It's all live, on many networks in two languages! Things I miss on the English side I catch on the French side (ie, french pole vaulter press conference controversy). French channel also has more goofy features around the city of Rio.

So happy olympics will be on CBC for 18, 20 and 22!

Garcia lost in wrestling first round and popped his shoulder.

But the guy he lost to got to the final so he's in the repechage right now! TSN2
