probably doesn't happen very often that a former GM is hired to work as a scout for his former assistant. Pretty interesting situation.

Seems over qualified as a pro scout, but after everything he went through with the Coyotes he's probably going to love the role.

He managed to make a few very competitive teams on a limited budget and with unsure ownership.

I have to think this is a good move.

I think Burke was in the same situation after Toronto, before joining the Flames he served as a scout for the Ducks.

yeah pretty similar. I believe Murray wasn't his assistant in Anaheim though.

Yeah, I doubt he's in this role very long for the Flames.

Last year, they had five pro scouts. Each one typically covers a different region and/or league.

Waiting for the contract doomsdayers to sneak in and suggest that negotiations are so bad that the Flames are planning for Treliving's replacement.

Green text, etc

Nothing but good things can come out of hiring a guy with that kind of experience.

It would be awesome if Brad and Don could get OEL off that child-GM for nothing. Meanwhile, said child-GM thinks he won the deal because of analytics.

Great hire, if anything I'd want Maloney to have an even bigger role in the organization. Hope it evolves into that instead of losing Maloney when a GM spot opens up.
