Buying Furniture Advice
I am moving into a new place and need a bed (upholstered bed) and a three piece sectional fabric sofa. I have tried Kijiji and haven't had a whole lot of luck. Also looking for more furniture and thought I would use CPs expertise.
I am not sure if this is the right place to put this but do we have people on here who work at furniture stores willing to give a good deal as I am on a budget? Also, I have been looking online and has anyone ever tried ordering from wayfair.ca??
All help would be appreciated as I want something nice and newish but don't want to completely splurge the bank.
Thanks in advance!

What kind of budget are you working with for the bed and sectional?

I guess also, what size bed, and when you say three piece sectional, do you mean three seats?
There are a lot of configurations of three pieces!

Wayfair.ca launching with free shipping is huge for Canada. The selection and pricing blows away anything else.

I am not in the furniture business so I am unable to offer you any bro deals; however, here are some thoughts:
Ashley furniture in town does not have a great reputation - they can be very difficult to deal with.
Of the stores in town I believe that United Furniture Warehouse is generally the lowest priced place - but I would also say they likely have lower quality stuff than you would find at the Brick or LEon's.
A few folks around here have mentioned EQ3 as a place to get more contemporary stuff at a decent price.

I second EQ3. It's all about budget. You can spend from $1,000 to $25,000 on these items.

Just bought an upholstered bed from Costco for cheap, if that helps (under $400 for a queen). Their selection is hit and miss, though.

IKEA Beddinge Lovas + 2" memory foam topper slid underneath the futon cover works great as a place to sleep or as a sofa. Slightly easier to acquire and build yourself, than perhaps waiting for someone to deliver/move it all over the place.
Both Futon, cover and queen sized memory topper together are probably around $550. (Topper I grabbed on Amazon). Worked great as a bed and a sofa.
The modular sofas at IKEA are around $1000-1200. Other than keeping an eye out on Kijiji, I don't know what to suggest for a sectional.

EQ3 is a great place for pretty decent materials and construction, and not horrible prices, especially compared to their niche competitor, West Elm.

You can try that Showhome Funiture store. They are in the old Future Shop at the Heritage shopping area (deerfoot/heritage.) I've been there before when I was looking for bedroom stuff and the prices and quality seemed quite good.

I will always plug F2 Furnishings. You could also try the brick.
Just kidding The Brick is where quality goes to die

I want something nice but not too expensive. I am looking for a queen bed and want to spend around $1000 for the bed frame and mattress.
As for the sectional, I want a couch with a chaise (so not an actual "sectional") and I am willing to spend $1000 on that as well.

Have you gotten it yet? Was it easy to assemble?

If you can handle their awful customer service.
I bought a bed from them and they shipped the frame without the hardware. It's been 2 weeks and I just got the billing confirmation the hardware has been shipped...from Illinois.
It would've been faster for me to have shipped this bed back and ordered and identical bed for delivery.
Customer service was basically "aww shucks, we can send out replacements on the 24th for you" which would've been a full 3 weeks after receiving the frame.
Buyer freaking beware. My wife and I have other rooms to furnish and way fair wont be getting our business again.

I have this in my basement family room and it's quite comfortable, and super functional.

It pills up quickly if you vacuum it though, so know going in the fabric will pop pretty harshly

Revolve has a clearance center up the hill from them on Blackfoot Trail. If you call Revolve they will give you the address. They sell off discontinued pieces, as well as pieces that actually come back from show homes (unlike Showhome Furniture.) May be a nick here and there on the show home stuff, but we bought a King sized frame and headboard for a smokin' deal that was in really good shape.
Because it truly is clearance furniture you may have to try and couple of times as the inventory seems to change frequently. We pop in every couple of months to see if there are any great deals on something we don't have an urgent need for.
I think the quality of the furniture at Revolve is middle of pack. A friend of ours that is a fairly well know interior decorator would definitely not make them his first choice at full price, but liked the clearance deals.

Hmmm, I have a serious shedding dog and have vacuumed it a lot too without any change in the fabric.
