Genie and Sloane....bring on the Nick Saviano drama. I think the only real chance at a medal here is PopNest (sorry, gotta go with something), and if Pospisil can find his game a bit I like their chances of winning gold.

I think so, too. Daniel's done it before and I think he can get on the podium again.
Another note: there won't be an all-Williams singles final, as they are on the same side of the draw.

Yeah I assume Genie will be home by August 8th. Pospisil will be out of singles in the 1st round too.
Mens doubles is our only shot barring a major surprise. Too bad Milos pulled out. Is he planning on having kids in the near future or something? Zika is relatively harmless otherwise.

Highlight of the men's draw is Novak Djokovic vs Juan Martín del Potro in the first round.

I think he's using health and Zika as a cover. He has to play Toronto, Cincinnati and New York and in the hot summer his body can only take so much. This is an important point in his career. He can finish this year #3 in the world if things go his way.

Genie out. Well she lasted a round longer than I thought she would.

well Kerber is #2 after all, we weren't going to get another Djokovic-level upset two days in a row.
speaking of which, I can't remember the last time I saw Nole that devastated by a loss. he knows that was likely his last realistic shot at the games.

If you look closely you can actually pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks in two.

olympics are the ultmate for guys coming from small or new countries.
Djokovic isn't just an athlete. He's the symbol of an entire new country.
Bit of trivia here. Nicolas Massu (who?) shockingly won the 2004 men's tennis singles AND doubles.
Those are the only two gold medals in the history of Chile.

Bad news, although not unexpected: Canada's tennis duo of Vasek Pospisil+Genie Bouchard miss the cutoff for the Olympics mixed doubles draw.

Ladies got a tough draw with Safarova and Strycova. Would be a pretty huge win for them if they did come through. PopNest got the Italians so get ready for a possible Fognini drama show.

Monica Puig took out #3 seed Garbine Muguruza of Spain in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Shocking result or just women's tennis?!?
