I have posted many times on this board about how much I liked the movie Crash, I bought my copy today, and I am gonna say again, rent or buy this movie, you will not be disappointed.........This movie has to be considered a front runner for Best Picture as of right now as well as Don Cheadle for Best Actor........Its not the easiest movie to explain the synopsis for and I found it better when I went into it not really knowing what to expect...........This Movie is soooo bloody good............

Excellent film. But best movie? I dunno about that...

The film is very honest about racial issues, I'll certainly be adding it to my collection. I encourage others to do the same.

Not a bad movie but certainly nothing special.

The script from a technical standpoint is nothing original and the racism theme is refreshing but the devices the script uses are far too cooked up to be taken seriously.

I found myself laughing at some of the more 'dramatic' scenes simply because they were absurdly dramatic.

Once again, a movie about racism is interesting but the delivery was typical hollywood crap.

Name a movie that has come out this year that you think is a front runner for Best Pic........Cinderella man is up there for sure, but aside from that, I cant think of much that has been better than Crash

I've heard both opinions. That it's wonderful and that it's seriously overhyped. I'll pick it up and decide for myself.

except that Hotel Rwanda was a 2004 release (a late one, but still a 2004 film)

I have to disagree. This movie is many things but "typical Hollywood Crap"? Hardly. It is overly dramatic yes but they pull if off because everyone of the performances is top notch. Reminded me a lot of the film Grand Canyon.

Typical Hollywood Crap is Armagadeon, Legally Blonde 2 and Charlies' Angels.

Crash though? Naw.

He probably wrote that because it received some mainstream attention and therefor 'sold out'.

It was a decent movie, but it was too big for it's own good.

The racial theme of the movie was refreshing, but the delivery was poor. There were just too many "main" characters. The whole climax of the movie was the conclusion of each set of characters' mini-story, but for most of the characters I couldn't have cared less about them. They simply didn't spend enough time developing all the set of characters throughly enough and I couldn't relate to them as I really didn't know very much about them.

On the flip side, it was already a long movie and one could argue that there simply wasn't time for that. Thus, IMO, the movie was just too broad to be pulled off effectively (with-in a reasonable amount of time).

Well, it may help that the price is fairly low. You can get it for under $20 which is cheap for a new release. I saw it in a Visions flyer for ~ 17.99.
