Default What are you most excited about for 2016/2017 Flames?

Tkachuk making the jump?
Janko proving people wrong?
Seeing what competent goaltending can actually do?
Seeing some of our new AHL guys like Mangiapane and Andersson?
Seeing what some of the new pickups can do like Pribyl, Chaisson, Brouwer?
New coaching staff?
Seeing if Johnny can keep building into a superstar?

I think I am most excited about Bennett's progression, seeing if Tkachuk or Janko can make the jump, having decent goaltending, and a better start to the season with some wins.

Just hoping that new coach/systems combined with what should be much better goaltending will result in a much improved goal differential and a lot more puck possession.

Also, yes I'm hoping Bennett improves his all round game while boosting his offensive production to "Monahan levels" of roughly 30/60 and I also hope Tkachuk forces his way onto the roster and has a solid 30-40 point rookie campaign.

One more thing I'm excited to see/hoping for is which forward is going to step up and take a top 6 spot by force. I want to see one guy do it and i don't care who it is. Shinkaruk, Pribyl, Poirier, Jankowski, Chiasson...doesn't matter. I just want to see one take the bull by the horns and make an impact.

There are a lot of things I'm really excited for this season with a new coach, goalies, etc.

One thing in particular that I'm really excited for is to see how Bennett performs in his second full season! I think he's going to take off!

Seeing how well Brouwer fits on the Gaudreau/Monahan line.

Easily the fact that this team finally has adequate goaltending to play in front of. Been a rough couple of seasons of highs and utter lows since Kipper left.

Secondly will be to see which of the kids jumps up and steals spots on the main roster out of camp. Plenty of interesting names out there. Shinkaruk, Jankowski, Kylington, Andersson, Tkachuk, Hathaway are my dark horse favorites to make a statement. Maybe Wotherspoon finally owns a camp and makes it too.

I love all what the Flames have done this off season in every department. I'm excited to see how it all comes together.

To be honest, I'm most excited about Glen Gulutzan's system. There are still some holes on the roster but we may take a huge jump into contender status if this system fits the personnel.

Very excited for what is (hopefully) very competent goaltending behind all our young talent.

Also looking forward to a coaching staff with a better system than stretch passes for days.

Getting rid of Wideman, Smid, Bollig either by trade or expiring contracts.

Two things
- What this team can do with even average goaltending
- Tkachuk - even if just for a couple pre-season games.

I'm also intrigued by Pribyl

The two things I'm most excited for this year are the two things that single-handedly ruined last season for me.

1) Goaltending: I can't wait to see what competent goaltending looks like again. We haven't had it since before the last lockout, and stable/excellent goaltending makes a very big difference with young teams as they work out how to play top notch defense. Having someone back there to save you when you don't make the best defensive play will go a long way to adding some more wins.

2) Coaching: I felt that Bob just didn't have them ready to start last year. You could see it in training camp and the first few weeks of the season. Nobody knew what to do/where to be, and nothing looked cohesive. I'm hoping that Gulutzan and crew will work a lot on that cohesion, as well as creating a responsible defensive game that can also move the puck out of the zone quickly and put it where the strength of the Flames lies: the offensive zone.

If those two things are corrected to the appropriate levels, we can expect the Flames back in the playoff picture this year.

Wideman's Revenge

Also the first 5-6 games of the season. Just a perfect schedule to get a jump on the season and the standings.
