Question Hypothetically speaking...

What happens if you don't stop for a cop who is running a speed trap?

I was on John Laurie going under 80 I think in a 70. A truck was passing me downhill. The cop was at the bottom and I slowed to maybe 50. The cop pointed in my direction, but I assumed he was pointing past me at the truck. The truck had passed me at this point and pulled over Infront of me then into the pullout. The cop turned and followed him in.

Now, my wife thinks the cop was pointing at me, and maybe he wanted both of us. Any chance the cop grabbed my plate and I have a big ticket on the way?

Lucky he didnt pull out his gun and shoot at you as you escaped past him.

But now you have to worry that the cops might show up at your door with SWAT as you are a flight risk.

This happened to me years ago... the cop pointed at both of us but I didn't stop and the other guy did... nothing ended up happening to me but I felt a little bad.

One time, I was driving south on 10th street towards 20th avenue N. A cop was standing in the right lane just in front of the light which had turned red. As I approached, I thought "Oh, the cop is blocking traffic for some reason - I'd better move over", so I moved to the left lane. He looked at me angrily, and so I sort of gave him a "what?" gesture with my hands.

We stared at each other for a couple seconds when the car that was behind me in the right lane pulled over into the strip mall at the corner and the cop went over to him. The light turned green, and as I passed by, I realized two things simultaneously. First, it was a speed trap, as there were several other cars pulled over in the parking lot. And second, I had just driven through a playground zone.

I think your best option is to drive your car out deep into the country and light it on fire with gasoline. then report it stolen. just to be safe.

Become a Freeman then it won't matter because I don't think you were driving at all but rather "travelling upon the land".

This happened to me once. Photo radar. Cop came out and pointed somewhere at me. Myself and another car pulled over as I believed he probably tagged me just before I slowed down to "speed limit". As I got close, cop pointed at me and waived at me to keep going while staring at the car behind me.

I'm guessing it works mainly in two ways.

1. If he didn't want you, he will tell you to go away.
2. If you are also a speedster and he tagged both cars and both cars stop, then both of you will get a ticket. However, cop isn't going to spend time to chase down a guy if he gets to write at least one ticket unless it's obvious street racing or something.

I mean, I've always assumed a bear rule for cops (don't need to be fastest, just not the slowest/first one caught). As long as the cops catch someone and you're not that sucker, you live another day... without a ticket. I've always assumed this is also why sometimes you suddenly see everyone get out of the slow lane on a highway and follow a guy going at a brisk pace. If there's a group, as long as cop catches one, everyone else is "safe".

Oh and you are guilty and will likely spend some time in the slammer. Don't hire a defence attorney either because it would be morally wrong to fight this. Sorry but you better fight the biggest guy in jail or your nickname might really be fuzz while in jail.

At this point, I'd memorize a recipe for toilet wine. That's worth gold in jail.
