Should be the most comparable to Monahan signed recently. In that regard, I hope it's cheap.

However, I also want the Jets to overpay...

I agree, I hope it is low.

Well this explains the delay in the Monahan and Gaudreau extensions. Treliving is waiting for the Sheiflele details to be made public first so he can punk Cheveldayoff.

It'd better be 8 years, 40 million.

For some reason, I have my doubts.

My guess is 8 years and $44 million. Cap hit of $5.5 million.

Edit: According to Friedman sounds like it's close to a $6 million per year cap hit. Wouldn't be surprised if the got the same as Barkov at $5.9M.

Would really set the market for Monahan in the $5.9-$6.5 million range for sure.

Monahan is 1.5 years younger, yet has more games, goals, and points than Scheifele.

Whatever Scheifele has signed for, you have to think Mony will get more.

That's a good contract. Really a lot of teams have signed their top young talent to solid deals. Really pulling for BT to do the same! Would love to see the boys on affordable/fair contracts!

If Mono got that exact deal, I'd be ecstatic.

So compared to Scheifele, Monahan would need at least $6.5 million on a eight year deal.

If Monahan and Gaudreau somehow collect less than $14M a year combined I'll be ecstatic.

More than Barkov - think Barkov is better overall but Scheifele has produced about the same offensively.

Barkov: 0.62 PPG Career $5.9M Cap Hit
Monahan: 0.67 PPG Career
Scheifele : 0.64 PPG Career $6.125M Cap Hit

Sign up Monahan at $6.25M for 8 years and call it a day. 8 years x $50M is a nice round number anyways.

Certainly agree that Barkov is a better player but Barkov only had 2 years of UFA bought out. Scheifele will have 4 years of UFA bought out, I think.
